Easy question. Write it off now and go for balls 2k7-8? or never say die, stick to the plan, gut it out, and hope to win and go from there?

    Que piensas?

Win. Do it for the fans. Just make the playoffs. A .500 record is good enough for the 8 seed.

JVG will try to win. But the effort would really result in tanking. So it's not like we will intentionally tank like Phily.

Will Greg Oden be the Hakeem to Yao's Ralph? Sorry, I had to.

Grease up JL III's tennies and run like the wind. The post up game is history.

    exactly. SAY NO TO TANKING.

actually, we just need to stick around the .500 mark until the allstar break. "stick around it" means a couple games under it/over it. if we manage to win 30% of our upcoming games, we still have a very good chance at making the playoffs. after the allstar break, Yao will be back full-speed. Bobby Sura and Snyder will get back in shape and get into the mix. we can get on a nice run and have a good streak going for us. which will do us 2 things: 1. insure a spot in the playoffs 2. give us momentum going into the playoffs.

Tmac will be back soon hopefully, we should just hang around and try to pull out some easy ones, our schedule is relatively easy so I think we will be alright.

    well

now we see how Sammy handles stress and depression.

starts a hundred threads in an hour.

    :p

personally, I think they will explore an aquisition from somewhere...dont know where right offhand, but that is what I would do to get some more help if I were them.

change the gameplan to the style of offense they ran when the bench made that amazing comeback playing run and gun.
Find a big forward with some speed, even if that means dealing with deficiencies in some areas, to help take the 4/5 load.

get Bonz and Shane alot more plays designed for them
get Kirk back for some guard help
adn pray like hell that Mcgrady can come back and play for a while.

we deserve a little luck...and getting Tmac back for the rest of the season is just the kind of luck I want right now.

    Hey...it's the holidays....stress gets you.

True story. went out to dinner with friends, had a great meal (great soba with roast duck, at my favorite japanese place...)

Came back after soba, sapporo, sake....ESPN is all over it....found out rox season was screw'd.

    :(

Hope you're right my man, hoping for the Spirit of 91 to come back...where you Larry Smith?

Actually if Yao does make the 6 week minimum and rounds into playing form shortly thereafter we still have a shot. The big question is can T-Mac play like Orlando and can Bonzi Wells play like post season vs. Spurs??

T-Mac's not getting it done alone on that back so Bonzi better step up big time (along with everyone else).

That's IF Yao makes the 6 week deadline but knowing him he'll try to be back before it.

Can T-Mac and the boys keep the team in the running until Yao gets back?? The West is too tough now especially with Denver thinking they're good with Iverson now.

There goes the hopes of being a GREAT team this season.

Oh well underdogs always are better.

    In the West? No way.

We need to win 45 games to have a decent shot this year. Too many good teams, and the East is too pathetic.

I said we should just try to win every game. It's too early to think of tanking now.

Let's say Yao comes back and is in decent shape by March 1st. There are 30 games in between now and then. OK, it stretches the imagination to think we can be .500 over that period, but I think if Bonzi and Snyder get back in the fold and start playing up to their potential we'll be far better off compared to last year. Our depth will be decent, and Bonzi+Snyder gives us some insurance in case McGrady is in and out of the lineup over this period. So, let's say we go 12-18 over this stretch without Yao. I think that's a realistic goal. That means we'll be 28-29 by March 1st. With 25 games left, can we go 16-9 in that stretch and get ourselves to 45 wins? Sure, I think that's definitely attainable.

So, tanking shouldn't be the option right now. We need to play to win. Some lineup changes are in order, though. Bonzi will need to play a lot more minutes at PF because Chuck and Juwan are going to be playing center much more now. Padgett and Novak might get some more opportunities to contribute. Can Deke give us 10 minutes of solid play now and then? He'll have to.

It may be necessary to get Haryasz back on the team. I thought he showed some good things and we can use a live big body that rebounds and finishes well around the basket.

Time for Sura to retire and give Haryasz or Schenscher one of those ten day contracts already.

.500 is good enough for the 8 seed. As of right now, we're number 6, and the 8 seeded TWolves are 2 games under .500. Stay around .500 until march, then get hot and finish with 45 wins.

I think it's just about time for Mr. Van Gundy to "pull a 2001" and become the rat deserting the apparently sinking ship...

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger right?
If Tracy Mcgrady can be the man once more then I think our season isn't lost just yet. He doesn't have to dominate yao-style, but if he can be efficient, and continue being the playmaker he was earlier this season, then we still have a fighting chance.
The depressing thing about this is that it's nothing new to us, but the bright side is it's nothing new to Luther, Rafer, and everyone else who was on the team during last seasons disaster. I still think that once Bonzi gets settled in he can be that productive guy we saw last season for sacramento and with Battier in the mix we are still well equipped.
These next 2 weeks should be either really intresting, or really painfull to watch so I say bring it on. For now I'll keep the faith.

It could be one of several things.

1 You washed non color and colored clothes together with water that was too hot

    2 You like pink underwear

3 You are Tony Parker's cousin and waiving the white flag is in your genetic makeup :)

What is the deal w/Sura's contract? Is it after Jan 1 we can cut him with no penalties? Snip...snip...
