did anyone else seem to notice that once again the team seemed to play better with JL III out there as opposed to rafer? i know the amount of time we have seen him has been limited, but so far he has done a good job when he gets meaningful min. also JL III was making his open shots, unlike rafer who cant make a thing. jvg please listen..............give JL III more of a chance, and quite playing rafer so dang much. (he plays way to many mins. even if he were awesome)

JLIII can't pass worth a lick for a point guard. He passed up Yao a couple of times today and had only 1 assist. He's really a sg in a small body. Backup is what's he good for, not much else.

    Are u kidding me?

something in your post tells me that you didn't watch the game!

Rafer hit 2 clutch 3's in the 4th and without him we would've lost. I commend JL3 for his effort, but he is not consistent enough and he did a lot of mental mistakes in tonight's game (ex: dribbling around for 20 seconds then passing it to somebody, several times). Rafer is a good player, he has some issues but he can work hard and step up his game.

he is number 2 in the whole league in 3 pt % in the 4th. right behind Luther Head!!

I think that's not the perfect time for another "Skip 2 My Lou bashing thread". this is really getting old

Agreed. Rafer is terrible. Worst starting pg in the entire league by a mile.

lucas would be the wost starting pg in the league by far. rafer isn't great but he's better then v-span and lucas. lucas is okay coming off the bench and surprising the other team's backup, but im sure everyone here would be tired of him after 15-20 minutes.

yeah just like how steve novak and v-span can be thought of as great players before they even scored a point in the nba.

While watching the Portland game I kept thinking Lucas should have been put in to try and bring some energy to the team, because it was severely lacking. Maybe after the game Van Gundy came to the same conclusion.

JLIII should get more playng min but not as the starting pg; Rafer Alston is the suitable starting pg of Rox at present but he should not play so long when he sucks. JVG should not be so stubborn and should give the bench players more min when the starters suck.

I'd take him over Smush Parker.

Yeah I wanted to mention something really good about Rafer, he is clutch in the 4th quarter 3's. Has saved our ass several times this year with em at the right time.

If you are just talking about the threes - they weren't really clutch. One took the lead back up to 15 which was good for momentum and the second was after SA had emptied their bench. I don't see how those 6 points "won us the game" when we were up so huge and didn't even need Yao Ming.

But, yeah, I hope JL3 can develop into a good "point per minute" type of sparkplug backup. He is not a true point.

Hopefully we will see more JLIII when the opponent starts to play 94 feet on Rafer and bang him around like Smush Parker did and like Tony Parker did in the 2nd half tonite. JLIII is smaller and the quickest player on the team. I like seeing him out there to deal with the press. He eliminates it single handedly.

JL3 played a good game tonite, and brought alot of energy to the floor. As far as starting over Rafer, there is no way in hell that would happen. He is a poor floor manager and he has a tendency to dance around the perimeter alot. I do agree that Skip needs a backup because he has been playing a ridiculous amount of minutes. Rafer played a great game tonight and was clutch in the 4th. Stop these Rafer bashing threads. It's getting old

Hahaha did you guys see Chuck Hayes bring it up the floor? The guys not half bad at PG except he looks like a Juggernaut and doesn't really look to pass the ball.

Once he starts that dribble and his forward motion it's kind of hard to stop him. :D

He took it coast to coast but missed the layup, but maybe we should look into starting Hayes at PG or at least playing him off the bench when Rafer's tired. :D

You think rafer doesn't kill more than half the shot clock just dribbling around without getting anything done? Watch more games.
