Good stuff from everyone, thanks!! I like this idea. She LOVES jewelry like earrings, necklaces, bracelets, but not anything expensive because she teaches 1st grade and those 'tards...er, kids are always grabbing her and feeling her up, etc. She's afraid to wear expensive jewelry because she would lose it....plus, we've only been dating for 5 months, so it may be a little early for a diamond... So where is a good place to find some inexpensive jewelry that isn't too gawdy? She doesn't like gawdy.
If she says she's not going to use the Ipod, I wouldn't get it. Instead, I would go with the Spa thing. She may only use that for four hours, but she will remember it for a while. Afterwards, even, you can ask her to show you some of the techniques that they used on her. [insert raunchy face here] As far as the Ipod goes, I wouldn't get it now, but maybe I would even explain to her after Christmas that you were narrowing it down to the two choices, and that will have her thinking more and more about the Ipod. With her in this state of mind, you will learn whether or not she really would have used one, and you will be in position to get her one for her birthday, or next Christmas.
The best place for jewelry like that is a store that isn't in the jewelry business, but happens to sell some anyway. Anthropologie for example Or Banana Republic Another store that has a lot of neat knick-knacks, including some jewelry, I think, is Whole Earth Provision
Ipod could be a good idea, but no way you need to spend $200 dollars on it...get her a new shuffle instead, which would be perfect to use during workouts since its a flash drive, lightweight and can clip on to you belt or shirt...and it's inexpensive.
I agree with the little gifts thing, but if you're going to do it be sure to arrange and present CREATIVELY. It shows you really put effort into it. If u decide to go with jewelry and you're too lazy or pressed for time to go searching for something unique try some simple classic peice from Tiffany's. I don't think you can ever go wrong with the classics. Like this: Return to Tiffanyâ„¢ collection heart tag bracelet. Sterling silver. 8" long. $175 As for the purses, I've never been a high maintance girl but when my boyfriend bought me a $300 Coach purse I fell in love with it. lol Again, classic peices, solid colors like black, or khaki and brown. I now take it everywhere, keep it in great condition, and guard it with my LIFE. lol
I bought my wife a car before I saw the D**k in a box video. Too late now. Maybe I can give her a D**k in a Lexus. I also support the multiple small gifts. Hopefully one of those 'small' gifts is not your D**k in a box.
my sister says, if you don't know what to get her, then get her a gift certificate...at least it won't be a bad gift. When it's explained that way, it comes off sounding lame, no? A gift certificate tells the girls basically that you don't know what they really want...but at least you know cash works. lol
From Germany, you could fly to Shanghai and buy 10 fake Coach purses which look pretty real. You'd just have to make sure you don't get caught when passing through customs... .
High Gloss in the Galleria. I sooooo recommend this place. They never fail. Like JayZ750 said, the stores specializing in jewerly aren't the best. But this one...they specialize in eclectic jewelry. The carry jewelry from roughly 100 diffferent artists.. There will have very artistic stuff and conservative stuff for all ages and occassions...but no huge purchase stuff with big diamonds or pearls. It is a kiosk in the Galleria on the 2nd floor over the ice rink. Look it up on a Galleria directory or visitor center. For artists, as them to show you their Magali collection.
btw: when I say "kiosk" store, I don't mean the cheesy kiosks manned by hs students...this is in the middle of a crossover on the 2nd floor, but has walls and a door, rougly, 150 sq ft, unlike the roll-away kiosks. They've been in this location for at least 10 yrs.
This is why most people in Houston who want "coach purses" go to Harwin. My mom, sister and grandmother did so.
My girlfriend said that the Houstonian is the best and that Beautique (in Rice Village) has the best overall services. She said if your girlfriend is a spa newbie, Urban Retreat might be a good option just because it is what people think of when they think of a traditional spa, just that their overall services are not as good as Beautique or the Houstonian. The Houstonian is apparently great, but pricey.
