Actually, NASA kinda sucks now. It's fun for kids, but now it costs almost 20 bucks, and five bucks to park. When I was a kid, you could walk around for free and look at everything.

Galveston is cool during the Summer when Schlitterbahn is open, but it's dead in the Winter. The Strand will keep you busy for a couple of hours, tops. If you go to Galveston, hit La Kings ice cream parlor on the Strand at 23rd. They have some kick ass home made ice cream. If the weather isn't too cold, there's a really good mini golf course on the seawall towards the West End. Moody Gardens is terribly overrated and expensive.

LMAO...I just choked on my sandwich... :D

Can't argue with Forbes, but I will...Granted, Dallas does have a great museum district, but Houston's is just as good...Hell, even Houston's children's museum is far better than Dallas'...Job growth, I'm not sold on that as there are a lot of different industry's in Dallas, but no anchor, unlike energy in Houston...Nightlife, well, its too close to call, IMHO...Dallas is good, but I think Houston holds its own...

I live near the Galleria/Addison area...Its not like there are a lot of illegals everywhere, but I think one of the great things about Houston is its ethnicity...Hands down, Houston has better, more authentic restaurants than Dallas does...Dallas has a lot, but most of them suck azz...

Just look at the demographics for money? Really, I guess you're saying if you're ethnic, you're poor...I must have missed that at Dallas University... :p

Richardson and Garland are ok, but Frisco, albeit nice, is in BFE...well, I guess if I were to move and settle down, I'd probably go to Southlake/Colleyville area...

    Bottom Line, Houston Rocks...

I heard an ad on the radio the other day saying that Schlitterbahn in Galveston is open year around...something about it being covered in the winter...

No he's not. I don't care if he is a Rockets fan. If he loves Dallas then he is dead to me.

4.5 million people in Houston and you can't freaking find 18,500 to fill the Toyota Center...

Gonna have to call you out on this one, cheif. I live in Dallas in Uptown and have lived here for two years (Houston Native of West University). There are plenty of potholes in Dallas as well, though more in Houston. Houston is also a lot bigger and it costs a lot more to have every road in tip-top shape. There is also a ton of traffic (because it is SO much bigger than Dallas) and tearing up roads causes huge delays here.

Ummm...so does Houston. Once again...geographically Houston is a lot bigger than Dallas...therefore the people are more spread out and don't congregate in two or three areas like they do in the D. Plus, there are more douchebags (many of them live all around me) in this city. It's pathetic. Cheesed out guys driving leased cars and living in effeciency apartments with more hair gel than you would think was possible to apply. The people are awful...and that is a fact.

Check your facts. Houston proper is actually richer than Dallas proper. Sorry, but Plano, Garland, etc... are not Dallas. And I see just as many minorities in Dallas as I do in Houston.

Dallas is a prettier city because of the zoning, but Houston is much better.

    Go Rockets

My facts were not including the suburbs :)

Anyways, I forgot to mention that I traveled 1400 miles all the way to LA just to watch the Rockets game last Friday. I wasn't even there for 24 hours. My sole purpose was to attend the game and head straight back. Some phony fan I am...

I know it has nothing to do with cities, but I was kind of frustrated when you guys questioned my being a true Rockets fan. There was a span of 2 years where I didn't miss a single game, preseason included. I skipped out on a lot of important things, but it was all definitely worth it

I get the feeling you're into strip clubs. All you do in Houston is Strip Clubs...? Strip club this, strip club that... Man... what kind of sick mo' fo' are you that you don't invite us? :)
I seriously resent this. I've gotten my paperwork to be legal here since you've been here, but you've NEVER asked for it. F*cker.
Claro que sí. Also, try I-10. redefined, you're like sissy girl if all you do is complain about traffic or weather. I bet they took your lunch money in College.

Most of us are ashamed to call you a fellow ROCKETS' fan being that negative about Houston, the home of the Rockets.

Dude, don't ever trash our city. I meant never visit again, please.

DUDE, you can visit Downtown Houston at night as long as you stay on the West side of it. The night life is getting a lot better now that we have stadiums and arenas downtown and people come out from their lofts to party. :)

How many times did Reunion Arena sell out in the 90's?

And if you think Dallas is better, then fine that's ok...but s**t at least come up with decent arguments instead of the exaggerated tripe you've unleashed.

I take 45 downtown every day (during the school year) and I've already tuned out all of the billboards and garish ads. Although as far as tackiness goes, nothing beats the huge Zone D'Erotica roof on 610 and Westheimer.

Dangit. Houston is by far the homeliest city I've been to in this country. It may not have as many "traditional" tourist attractions as other cities, but man, I love living here. And I would absolutely hate it if I ever had to live anywhere else.

And the people here just rock. I have a friend from Seattle who comes down here quite often, and she can't stop gushing about how friendly Houstonians are. She's actually seriously considering moving down here.

    He's one of 'em.

Re-read his first couple of posts: "up & coming city", "young generation", "according to Forbes", "Houston is relatively poor", "illegal Mexicans", "these subtle reasons". How anyone from Dallas could complain about Houston women, I have no idea. And then the kicker: "unfortunately, I am a Rockets fan."

Typical Dallasite (funny how they picked a word rhyming with "parasite").

I'm moving back to Houston from New York. I could've moved anywhere in Texas but I chose Houston for several reasons. Everyone has their own personal taste but I love the fact that I can hop on a plane and I'll be back in NY in 3 hours or 3 hours to LA. Could I do that in Dallas? or even Austin? Probably, but since I've lived in NY for the last 11 years, Houston is more of a multi-cultural city for me than anywhere else. I'm sorry but Dallas is too Red-Neck for my tastes. At least in Houston, I can find a nice Greek Deli, Brazilian food, Vitenamese Pho, or a good Mexican restaurant, and even find a nice Filipino store. I can't say the same for Dallas. I'll give Dallas nightlife the SLIGHT edge over Houston. The clubs here are horrible. However, I'm not coming back to Houston for the clubs since I work in clubs in NY. I just think the quality of life is better in Houston and I'll be neighbors with Clutch! ;) O yea...Houston ROCKETS! What better reason to live here! :D

The museum district is actually an area that includes the Museum of Fine Art, the Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Natural Science, the Childrens' Museum, the Houston Zoo and Hermann Park. There are a few other smaller museums in the area as well as Rice University and Rice University Village, a really intersting conglomeration of shops and restaurants.

The Museum of Natural Science houses the IMAX theatre and the Cockrell Butterfly Exhibit, a really cool deal. The zoo is worth seeing as well.

Plus, you can take the light rail from Hermann Park back into downtown as it runs along Main Street and Fannin all the way from University of Houston downtown to Reliant Stadium.

As for the other comments in this thread...pass.

For certain. I read recently that in terms of shear numbers of ethnicities, Houston has a wider range of cultures represented in numbers than any other city in the US. It also happens to be the #1 city for entrepreneurs on the planet and...oh, hell, I said I passed. :)

I love bashing Dallas. However, I don't like doing so with people from outside the United States, and I know a bunch of 'em.

Being the curious sort of fellow that I am, I've asked all of them at one point or another their impression of Houston vs. Dallas. To a man (and woman), they ALL hate Dallas, for all of the reasons Houstonians hate Dallas. Their biggest beef is the people. They all find Houstonians to be friendly and genuine, with Dallas folk fake, pretentious, and down-right full of themselves. They all consider Dallas a very redneck-ish city, and have trouble understanding why Houston has the reputation it does.

Now I've got a ton of friends up in Big D. They're great people who completely turn that stereotype on its head. I was fairly shocked with my international buddies impressions and how in-line they are with said stereotype. I always thought it was just a Houston-inferiority-complex thing. Guess I was wrong.

lots of places i want to travel to but only one place i want to live and that's right here.
