Hi I accidently deleted a large folder containing my pictures on a flashdrive. When I was selling my computer, I had uploaded music and pictures from my old computer onto the flash drive. Halfway through I noticed the flash drive was too small for the folder(containing one music folder and one picture folder).

So I tried a second time with my friend's video Ipod. This time I managed to fit the entire folder. Then later I uploaded the file from the Ipod onto my laptop.. Thinking I had everything, I went ahead and erased the folder off my friends flashdrive. Later, to my horror, the folder containing all my pictures is EMPTY! I then check the ipod again and Sure enough, the picture folder in the Ipod is empty. I need help retrieving my folder(from the flash drive) if there is a way. I heard computers keep record of everything so I hope there is a way to get them back.. Does anybody here know how to fix this problem? :( :(

and PS. The recycle bin has been emptied

    System Restore.

    Right click on My Computer
    Click properties
    Go to System Restore tab

Not sure if this works, but you can give it a go.

Ohh sorry. I always have system restore turned off, so I don't know much about it. I just read this on microsofts website.

System Restore does not affect your personal data files (such as Microsoft Word documents, browsing history, drawings, favorites, or e–mail) so you won't lose changes made to these files.

Pretty much system restore is just for programs, applications and software updates.

Hey thanks for the link. I've tried running the program after downloading it and seemed to work until some error message came up.

I have tried a few other programs before this one. The first program I tried, some trial version of DiskInternals Uneraser was able to detect the deleted files. Prior to downloading, I saw that the program will allow me to view which files they are able to retrieve, but I will have to pay 70 or 80 dollars to 'copy' them back onto my computer. So I went ahead and tried it out to see if it even worked. So after running the program and searching, I explored through the folders and was able to see 'preview' versions. The preview showed the image selected in a small thumbnail on the left side. Anyways I was ECSTATIC I was atleast able to see the pictures in 'preview' form. These pictures are irreplaceable to me(several hundred, maybe even a thousand - 150 MB). At the same time, as you might guess, I REALLY don't want to pay 70 or 80 dollars for this mistake.

So I tried a couple other 'freeware' software. One detected the photos and even was able to keep the original filenames of all the pictures. Previously on the Uneraser, all the pictures were divided into bmp, gif, jpg, etc etc [file-type subfolders]. And the files were all mixed up within its own subfolders and given new filenames.

It was great to see a program that KEPT the original filenames, which would save me alot of time later as well. But when I tried to upload from the second program, It would say it had uploaded but most of the pictures would not actually copy onto my computer properly - the proper filenames are there but the images do not work when clicked/selected.

Frustrated I tried another program.. and this one had even less luck. It said the 'disk' is too damaged to search. And it gave up.

And Finally I just tried your suggestion. Once I ran the program ' Restoration' during the search an error message comes up midway through the search, forcing me to shut the program down. I've tried it several times with the same result :( .

My question is.. Is there a possibility when using the FIRST software(the one that tried to charge me money), the program disallowed any future programs from working? So I am forced to purchase the software? Like it called dibbs on my 'business'. OR, by scanning with so many programs, did I cause irreparable damage to the files on the flash drive? I am so frustrated and I really hope to find a solution soon. Anybody know the remedy?

I have a free registered copy of Easy Recovery Pro V. 6.04. A friend made me a copy of his program and it includes the serial key.

Email me if you want this program. It can be sent in zip format.

does system restore restore deleted programs? Too late now(already reinstalled it), but it would've been so much easier to just use restore.

    Mr. Brightside,

Can you send me that program again as it worked like a charm last time. I was just looking through my pictures and noticed a whole bunch deleted on its own for no reason. I have no clue why. I'm definitely have to get a back up usb drive this time so this doesn't happen again. I tried searching my email and it said the yousendit file had expired. Please help!
