Apparently Stern and the League are not going to fine Yao for his comments after the Laker game about officiating. Interesting.
you mean they *made a statement* about not fining him? I thought they would fine him or just let it go, not saying anything? link?
They were a little busy passing out suspensions for the fight so I am sure it was overlooked. I would like to know if they made some sort of statement though.
I'm disappointed that they haven't fined him. I was hoping for a big to-do in the paper, another national debate on officiating big men, and a 10-day honeymoon where the refs send Yao to the line a lot. His comments certainly merited a fine.
Yao, JVG, and even Cuban should've taken advantage of this NYN/DN debacle... If I was Yao I would've gone "Refs **** ***** nba balls ***** **** ****" every game until the fines are settled
You'd think it would be news that he didn't get fined. maybe they are going to pull a Washington maneuver and make the press release of the fine on a Friday before a long weekend.
They knew that they would make it worse by fining Yao so that ESPN, newspaper columnists could make a big issue out of it. The best way to continue to screw Yao is just let him say whatever he wants and take no actions.
That is why they didnt fine IMHO. If they did, it would have started another debate. The league babies people like: KOBE, Lebron, Wade, and maybe one or two more. Therefore, they cant afford to baby another superstar. I saw a player get fouled out the other day for breathing on Kobe
The national media doesn't wanna be on yaos side. If they called him fairly he would block way more shots and score 40 a game an that would take away from the king and kobe. Young black males are who they wanna market
Did they fine Shaq for calling out the refs? Maybe they don't care about the biggest baddest centers in the league and don't want the media attention since they are nuking them on purpose.
I just googled it. Shaq was fined 25k for criticizing the refs. It's ok to call attention to Shaq. It's not ok to call attention to Yao getting unfair treatment. Yao can't buy 10 seconds of the NBA's time. If he was a German foreigner like Dirk, he would be getting calls left and right. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12550737/
ummm yes. affirmative action at academic institutions, in the work place, even in professional sports
