Greatest thread title ever...anyway to answer your question. I would imagine his votes would carry over to the western conference since he will be playing there for a month and half before the allstar break. It would definetley screw him over if they didn't. I haven't looked at the balloting but I'm sure kobe and nash will be starting anyway.
are u kidding me? look at the balloting buddy, Tmac is leading Nash big time. my man Tmac will get his deserved spot as a starter in the allstar game and he will capture the MVP this time because he got ROBBED by Mr. r****d Lebron James last time in H-town.
LOL. Yeah that was a steal, damn LeBron fouling him at the last second. That kind of steal doesn't show up on the stat sheet, either. But yeah the leading conference guards are T-Mac and Kobe by a good margin. AI might change that up but for now it's T-Mac and Kobe on lock for WCG ASG starters.
They may be oil and water...may take them the whole season to gel...egos WILL get in the way. Who takes the last clutch shot etc.
Iverson's Eastern Conference votes (595,200) get transferred to the Western Conference. This puts him 3rd among Western Guards behind Kobe (720,375) and TMAC (668,130). I can't see him overtaking those two, and I can't imagine that the coaches will vote him in.
Per Hollinger: "And unlike some coaches, Karl doesn't seem to have a big problem working with players who are perceived as difficult. He almost seems to relish it, in fact, as Gary Payton can attest" It has been several years since Karl coached "the glove" - Karl has gotten weirder and stranger since. George Karl never looked like he "relished" working with Gary Payton. Karl has that constipated, bite a nail in two look on the bench. If Karl can take his meds and chill for 2 seasons- the Nuggets will make it to the 2nd round possibly- but not the Western finals in my opinion.... George Karl - like Larry Brown will almost always imporove a team at the beginning - until his crazy personality takes over. Karl has never been able to gut it out and win the big one. Karl is a choker. IMHO this chemistry with this coach and these players will not work. Larry Brown is more stable than Karl. At 31 years old, with an aversion to practice-for a player that relies on quickness off the dribble- his window is no more than 2 to 3 years max IMHO.... Billy King really screwed up the in the trade for C-Webb, but I do not think anyone realized how immobile Webber was- except the Sacramento GM. This trade is not that bad for Philly....It is difficult for any GM to get equal value for an unhappy star- recall Mr. Pippen....
I just can't believe thats all they got for Allen Iverson!?!? I think a team like Minnesota would have given Randy Foye, an Expiring contract and a first round pick for AI. Andre Miller, Joe Smith and 2 late 1sts? C'mon. Billy King got taken just as he got taken by accepting Webber and his complete lack of mobility.
Oh man do you guys forget they still have KENYON MARTIN....not a scrub by all means...just injured a lot lately.... Melo iverson jr smith camby martin/nene man thats a squad....who can beat anybody....
JR is thrilled to be playing with AI and saying all of the right things. I'm not worried about him at all. We don't really run any plays for Marcus. Most of his points come off of Melo drawing the double team down low or a guard driving and popping out to him. He'll still get his.
You know what, you're right for the most part. This was just a bad situation from the start. The expectations for King to make out in a positive light were way too high considering no GM will ever get equal value for a HOF/Mega Star like Iverson. His negotiating probably hurt his chances of making a better deal, but I don't think he was asking for the 'moon'. With Boston he was asking for the pick and Green or Jefferson. I don't remember reading anything about him asking for all three. He probably could have pushed for another Denver player like a JR Smith or Nene, but I still don't think the deal was horrendous, and here's why. Yeah ok, Andre Miller isn't a superstar but he's a great guy to have around the locker room and someone who can distribute the ball to a young ball club. That's if they keep him. Who knows if Philly turns around and ships him somewhere else. He's not over the hill, he's not a headcase, and he's a trade commodity. Of course if I were a Philly fan I'd prefer a Randy Foye or Shaun Livingston, but I didn't see the pieces on Minnesota's part or willingness on the Clippers part to make those deals. Lets also be realistic as to the potential of Gerald Green and Al Jefferson. Nice atheletic young guys who 'may' turn out to be something. If you ask me these guys are near the same level as the guys Philly will draft in the upcoming draft. They're still not polished and it will take them a few more years to develop into something special if they do at all. They're not spectacular and may give you a big game once in a good while. Finally, outside of Kevin Durant and Greg Oden the draft if pretty much a toss up. After those two the level drops off to the next tier and you can still get quality players with 'potential' ala Jefferson/Green in the bottom half of the draft. I think the true way to judge whether this is a horrible deal or a serviceable one is whether or not they can do anything with Miller and those picks. I'll still agree with you that King hasn't done a great job, but that's more because of the Webber situation. And I don't think any GM would have been able to move Webber.
Are you keeping in mind that he was the one that traded for Webber when he was already "unmovable"? Evan
King is a terrible GM. The Sixers should fire both him and Mo Cheeks right after the season and bring in a coach and GM who can make the most of those 3 first-round draft picks.
That's what I said, that his rep as a bad GM comes from the Chris Webber deal. Despite the fact that Webber almost averaged 20 and 10 in the 46 games he started for the Kings that year, they should still have layed off of taking that contract. But like I said, I doubt any GM could have coaxed another team into taking Webber as a part of any AI deal.
