    didn't see this posted anywhere. Apparently, China just romped in the Asian Games this month (w/o Yao obviously) and are saying they won't make him play much this summer, either.

    one thing about the Chinese.... is if their people are any good at any given sport...meaning good enough to compete with the best...

    it may take 10, 20, 50, 100 years...

    but

    they will put the time in... and eventually....dominate it...

    not true.....Chinese invented soccer thousands of years ago but they still have not produce ONE big time star

    btw i seriously hope yao would not do anything next summer other than chillin' on the beach...

    I'm a bit surprised by their basketball chief stating publicly the Asian championships are no longer a challenge.

    This is good news for Yao and the Rockets.

    This is not surprising at all. The Chinese Men's Basketball team is dominant in Asia without Yao. They'll try to gain more international game experience by playing with some European teams next year. I guess they did not feel they have anything to gain by forcing Yao to play against the European scrubs. The other reason the Chinese team does not need Yao is that they do not have to play qualifying games as the host country for 2008 Olympics.
