I stopped by at Jack in the Box earlier this morning to pickup breakfast, so on the way back home, I turned onto my street and saw a van coming the opposite way. I then saw a bird fly really across the street right in front of me, followed by a little squirrel that was apparently chasing the bird. Next thing I see, the squirrel gets hit by both of the vans left tires. It looked horrible, the squirrel just bounced a couple of times, and its eyes were bulged out. I didn't even want to eat anymore.. poor squirrel
I normally can't stand rats, but I have always loved squirrels. They just seem so intelligent and damned cute. I hit one in the road one time. I tried to swerve and miss him but he ran the same way I swerved and got hit. He tumbled and rolled for a while in my rear view mirror and I felt terrible. Then he tried to get out of the road and on the grass, but I guess his back end was crushed or his spine was snapped because he couldn't move his hind legs, just his front legs. So he dragged himself across the road with just his front legs. Normally, it would have been a horrible scene except that he moved so fast like that, it was almost something out of a grotesque comedy...the likes of which Monty Python might do. So I laughed. Then I felt bad again. Just thought I'd share that.

I remember driving to work on 9/11 and seeing a squirrel getting ran over. At the time I thought it was the most horrid thing I saw, until I turned on the TV that morning.
I ran over a possum last week. At least I think it was a possum. I thought it was a cat at first, and I turned back around. The thing was split in half basically with blood all over...not a pretty sight.
