It's not about some bbs poster crying bad officiating. It's the first time Yao complained after a game, about officiating, IN PUBLIC. Isn't that a good step for him? The most dominant center, the brutal force, the toughest baddest guy - Shaq, complains about officiating all the time. The master mind, superior, zen master, Phil Jackson, complains about officiating on and off court, all the time. What's your problem with Yao's first complaint, after so many commentators pointed out, after coaches pointed out, after fans booed about it during the games? Was Yao officiated fairly? If you say no, then you agree with Yao, what was your problem then? Did he say it was all about refs that they lost those games? He didn't. But, if you think Yao is officiated fairly, then I have nothing more to say.
It's about time. Yao will get fined but I seriously think he'll get his point across. NBA officials and other front office guys know what kind of guy Yao is, he's not gonna complain just to complain. If you watch the tape (especially lastnight's game)...there's no question Yao doesn't get offciated fairly.
Kwame and Bynum were getting Superstar calls and Yao wasn't allowed to push them back. I have no idea why.
yao was fouled when he took the last shot at second over time. he has been pushed all night long. you call it "even out".
How will the NBA refs and those officials react? Yao will get fined without question. They won't accept such complaint which may jeopardize their authority. However, will have some serious meetings to talk about this issue? Will the refs get some specific information from NBA league just like "pay more attention on what defenders do on inside players, especially Yao"?
I somtimes wish Yao was coached by Jerry Sloan(I know, that's a nightmare for us Rockets fans). Instead of Yao going for these blocks and getting ticky tack fouls. If you are going to foul, you have to make it count. Under Sloan, He would be comitting more hard fouls instead of those weak ticky tack fouls. If they play hard with you, you play hard with them. He should have grabbed and pushed Kwame around and have the refs call it.
I got an idea. Yao should refuse to play the all-star game if the situation doesn't get better. On you face, Stern!
Not so well. First half, Yao's shotting/blocking/assisting/ are the big factors of why laker trailing 20. Second half, referee let game go physical and rockets guards don't execute well. That's the real problem. Sure laker's defense step up. Kwame/Bynum don't get anything either. You can see Phil kept sighing.
Yao needs to attack the basket if he wants superstar calls. The refs ain't gonna call a foul on a 7-5 center taking jumpshots in which he did most of the time(too many turn around jumpers). You have to earn it by taking it hard to the hoop like Shaq,Duncan and even Dirk. Unitil he does this, he will never get the calls. He got a lot of points yesterday but also shot poorly b/c he didn't score around the rim.
I still like the idea of China withdrawing Yao. Now that would be a true slap-to-Stern's-face. Using a coutnry's power to lay the law down on a businessman
You can forget about Shaq. He gets raped by the refs, too. He has complained about it also. Duncan and Dirk get calls for just being breathed on. Duncan is crawling all over the back of people grabbing rebounds with no calls.
Even the Espn commentators hinted more than once the refs were swallowing their whistles on the Rockets. The rockets had many more points in the paint, but much less foul shots. Go figure.
I wish hadn't played the "i'm so big it's not my fault card".... Better if he just said something like, "the refs just don't like me, so they let guys push me and foul me. I understand that - but last night was ridiculous. I know I get fouled a lot and the refs look the other way because they don't want me to have it easy, but this is becoming a joke. I've stayed quiet for all these seasons, but I thought the NBA was classy and fair. Guess I was wrong." That would definitely get Yao fined...and probably get the attention of the refs....
that's a great improvement in Yao's attitude. I've always wanted him to do something like that. I want ESPN to make a big story out of it and let everybody think "well, lets watch the tapes see if he's right or not". that's the first step for Yao Ming. now I want him to go Rasheed Wallace on the media. throw in a couple of F words and add some profanity to his comments. let him fine him, it's not gonna matter for him anyways. let them suspend him for a couple of games, I dont care. I just want him to get some respect from the freakin officials. I want somebody to address the "3 seconds violation" called on our centers about 4-5 times a game. why dont they call it on everybody? this is just unbelievable. I think the officials just hate H-town. I dont know why. ever since Hakeem was here, they used to do the same thing. when we played NY, they would call every single BS thing for Ewing, but Hakeem got NO calls. but Hakeem went on and won 2 championships despite all the hate from the officials.
The refs surely aint gonna call a foul on a 7-5 center taking jumpshots, but they are much more likely to call fouls on a 7-5 Chinese guy who tries to play like Shaq.
