I wish he would pull a Grant Hill and refuse to retire and bounce back from injury to give us excellent production in his twilight years

On the NBA level it's not the coach's job to inspire, in my opinion. They are there to prepare, scheme, organize, and make adjustments. The last time Van Gundy had a team of cut throat players, he was coaching them in the NBA Finals.

i can't wait for bobby to come back after the all-star break and prove all the haters wrong. besides, what could possibly be worse than rafer? i think the professor from and1 would run the team and take care of the rock better than rafer.

i forgot all about lil bobby hill...if he does come back i think it will take some time to get into game shape but i dont think he will be the same player. If you think about it we really dont need to much from our pg; (1) we need our pg to bring the ball upcourt without getting it stolen (2) we need our pg to pass the ball around to yao (3)play defense and (4) hit the open shot! not to hard is it?

They won't be good unless this TMac issue gets cleared up and right now, I starting to worry that his back problems are indeed chronic. Without him and an in shape Bonzi Wells, the Rockets' guards will be making nothing but BAD memories for us all.

Two years ago Sura was my favorite Rocket. I'd love to see him back and effective.

This post is funny I'll give it to you.

It's not the coach's job to inspire? Tell that to the Florida Gators, who's team was given one of th ebest pre speeches ever on national tv and went out to win a national ncaa title.
Tell it to all of the movies about coaches inspiring players, or coaches like Rudy T or countless others who gets their players to play on a level beyond they were capable of otherwise like Kwame Brown or even Antione Walker.

As far as adjustments, there are none with this team. The offense is set to fail in the end because of it. It's not how you start, its how you finish. Obviously assistant coach Gundy being owned by Phil twice in one week after Pop owned him hasn't learned a lick. Scratching your shiny scalp while you allow the And 1 baller to kill your offense right in your face is downright mindboggling.

You sit here and give credit to this just above average coach for a team another coach assembled to credit his current job isnt working. The NBA has changed and he hasn't. It has passed him by and he doesn't recognize it, and it's about time for him to go.

Looking for hurt players to always pull out miracles for a coaching deficiency isn't what real teams do.

Can somebody tell me why so many people refer JVG as our assistant coach? He's our head coach, and does this imply that JVG isn't worthy of head coach position? If he isn't, who do you want? Phil Jackson? Jerry Sloan? As it happens they are on something called a contract.

the picture by itself says it all. look at how much he is sweating. reminds me of Battier. the guy worked his a$$ off when he was playing and he was our key to success in 04-05. Sura is a warrior, he will be back soon and he will hopefully save the team.

Sura will be back a 100% and will silent all the doubters. all of you band wagoner who give up on our players like Sura and Tmac and call for trading them will see . (yeah, I am talking about guys from the "Tmac for AI" thread),

apparently all of these people that don't think bob sura will help our team were not watching the 2004-2005 season. That or they are orthopedists who have examind Bob Sura's knee.

Am I certain that bob will play again for the rockets? No. Am I certain that he will play well if he does? No. But to say, without seeing him play yet, that a guy who takes care of the ball, has three point range and plays great defense would not be a better player to put in against, oh i dont know the lakers, than John Lucas III or Billy "if i turn it over van gundy will take away my passport so I better play very hesitantly and only shoot when I'm wide open when I'll be so nervous that I miss" Spanoulis is absurd.

I'll defend Bob Sura until he retires, and so should Rockets fan's with a sense of history.

i ranted about this all last night. bobby is EXACTLY what we need right now. it isn't that we lack talent, because when we get rolling there's not a team in the league that could stop us.

it's when we face any type of adversity, our team lacks the fiery leader we had at the point in '04-05 in bobby. neither yao or tmac are vocal leaders, and our pg is just not getting it done.....shooting, passing, decision making, hell he could barely hold onto the ball dribbling at the end of yesterday's game.

on the van gundy note, even bill walton was ripping him last night for not being able to come up with a more creative offense involving yao. i know most of the ppl on this board don't have any respect for walton, but he knows the game and definitely knows big men. its been mentioned how jvg is one of the most well-prepared coaches in the league, and that could possibly be true which would explain how well we start games, but i think he's gotta be one of the worst IN GAME coaches due to his utter incompetence to make adjustments throughout the course of a game.

this could mean benching his pet rafer when he's absolutely stinking it up, NOT switching to a zone when up 3 and with brian cook out on the floor, there are too many to list. when you play not to lose, chances are you're gonna lose.

    BOBBY SURA!

    Please hear my plea!

We need you to defend that three!

    Age may reign

and you may play through pain

    but your heart is tough

and our lives with out you is just fluff.

speaking of bill walton, did anyone else think it was funny when he said something about how Luke Walton and Richard Jefferson practiced all summer where they live in San Diego. I was expecting him to then say, "And after I picked them up for practice we would sometimes go out for ice cream."
