Intel e6400 vs AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+

    which processor would you choose for a new system? i am not a gamer and this pc will be used for work. their is about a $50 price difference but that doesnt really matter since the company is paying for it.

    Core Duos are supposed to be substantially faster and consume substantially less power than Athlon X2s. Therefore, I'd probably get the Intel chip (and I'm a huge AMD fanboy).

    the core 2 duo is faster than amd. i have an amd 4600 myself x2. core 2 duo gives you flawless multi-tasking. i wish i would have waited two more months before building my computer

    It's my understanding that both are similar, and both are able to handle Vista...The computer guy told me AMD...

    Fanboy hobbist geeks love AMD. At this point, Intel is ahead with their current offering. Go with Intel.
