I'm not sure of anything in regards to this team, I'm confused.
I would just like to see them get wins, even if they are ugly over the Raiders wins.

I've just got the feeling that the players are going through the motions. And that ownership/mgt is more concerned about the whole package instead of focusing on wins and letting everthing else fall into place.

If it keeps up, its really going to suck when the actual good players like AJ and Dunta don't consider resigning because they have had

He's not going anywhere, the Texans are dumb enough to keep him for as long as possible.

it wasn’t kubiak’s decision; he doesn’t sign paychecks. it was mcnair’s. that’s not to say kubiak wasn’t asked (he was) and his opinion, i’m sure, carried weight, but it was ultimately mcnair’s call, and that process started the minute they brought in dan reeves, which was last november-ish.

besides, this wasn’t a carr or young scenario; it was a carr + the #1 pick or young. i know a lot of you are high on young, but he's not yet worth two overall #1 picks.

Charlie P on 790 was saying that basically .
. . ANY COACH that said David Carr had to go . . would not get the Job

He also stated what we all know . . .
Mario was the #1 Draft Pic . . because Bush would not Sign before the Draft
    [Signability]
To me .. they played it safe
    BUSINESS SAFE not FOOTBALL SAFE

I heard him say this on various occassions . . in so many words
[I don't want to lie on him . .but those are my interpretation of his words]

That being said . . .it is on McNair

Right...... McNair's? Just like it was Casserly's in regards to Mario Williams, too. Reeves was brought in because the last thing Bob McNair is, is hands on. You think Jerry Jones or Bud Adams would have brought in a Dan Reeves? Those are the types of owners that make calls, not Bob McNair. The Bob McNairs' leave it up to others.

    :D carr isn't a #1 pick anymore. he isn't worth a #1 pick. he wouldn't return a #1 pick in a trade.

To cash his paycheck. Because he's so rich since he got that extension. Get it? Fort Knox is the only place that has enough money to.....

Aw, forget it. I guess that was pretty lame. Sheesh, it's hit or miss around here today. The Ferris Bueller post went over pretty well, but this one....

who, besides you in this post, is saying that? kubiak had the final call; mcnair was going to sign a large paycheck regardless of which player they drafted.

no, jerry jones brings in bill parcells to help pull his franchise out of the crevice he drove it into.

mcnair brought reeves in to evaluate, he said at the time, the product on the field, which included david carr. from what i've read, reeves, ron wolf, jimmy johnson and eventually gary kubiak were among the people mcnair consulted on the decision (as well as the other coaching candidates), and frankly, when you lose faith in your guys, going outside for a fresh perspective is a smart thing to do - why are you ragging that? you think mcnair was getting a straight answer from trying-to-save-his-ass casserly about his first-ever pick?

Actually, I had assumed it had something to do with golden boy.

    I guess I wasn't too far off.

No one. I never said anyone in this thread said as much. I'm just using that notion as an example of how ridiculous it is to say it was McNair's call. But now Kubiak had the final call? Whose call was it Ric? Make up your mind.

The point was not to compare the state of the franchises but simply a statement about styles of ownership.

I don't see Carr going any where next year. He has never gotten a fair chance with decent offensive line and decent running back. It would not be fair to Carr or the Texans if he were to be let go or traded away. If you trade him then you admit publicly that you screwed up when you drafted him.

Carr was a franchise QB coming out of college. He has lost his confidence due to getting beat for record 5 years in a row.

More then Carr, it will reflects badly on Texans front office that in 5 years time they were not able to provide decent offensive line or the running game.

If Carr is bad (and I think it has become apparent) the offensive line is equally terrible, if not worse. While the QB is the leader of the offense, he is only one part. Blocking is the most important aspect of an offense. The Texans have never had even a slighly decent line. Now, having said that, it would be wise to move Carr this offseason, maybe fool the Raiders into taking him and the high draft pick for their #1.
