After a quick mini-slump to get used to the ball again, T-Mac will be balling again. However...Yao Ming was doing better with this ball, but then again he's been improving every season as it is.
Nah, they already made too many. Short lived, but excessive supply. Just like those 5 bucks pocket books.
see even when stern is being stupid he's smart enough to stop being so stupid. and i have to say the no-complaining thing has gone better than i thought it would. people pretty much don't complain anymore and the T's have pretty much gone away recently.
The Players Association lawsuit had a LOT to do with Stern reversing on the new ball. The CBA is clear that the NBA has to consult with the PA before making changes that affect all the players. Stern and the NBA were clearly going to lose this law suit, now there is the issue about this no tolerance policy regarding the refs. Stern and the NBA still need to be taken down a peg and the PA should still pursue their suit despite the switch back to the old ball.
The new basketball thing was completely mishandled by Stern. By idea followed up with horrendous execution. The "no-complaining" issue was perfectly done. At the beginning of the season, there were a lot of techs to make a statement and set the tone. That was necessary. Now both the players and refs have calmed down into something more consistent and manageable. It's not there yet and the refs must become more even-handed or this could also end up in a fiasco. I don't think it will. 1 out of 2 for Stern.
Wow that is pretty suprising. I expected them to go back to the old ball but not until at least after this season. When MLB gets rid of Bud Selig and the NBA gets rid of Stern, both will be much much better off.
This is good to hear, will mess up some players though. Hopefully T-Mac can bank on his 9 years of NBA experience with leather and start draining shots.
bit weak, they should of just revised the ball. get rid of the microfibre (which can like very fine sandpaper) material/faux leather and go 21st century with a non-leather feel synthetic. that's what rugby did 10 years ago.
GOOD, now the rockets will definetly kill the competition in may june, IF the back holds up. So my statement is: BACK dont cause no trouble cause ya don't want no problems do you!
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_y...gu8vLYF?slug=ap-nba-newball&prov=ap&type=lgns Whine, whine, whine. He even says himself that he's been playing with the leather basketball his whole life. Does three months of play with a different sort of ball really make so much of a difference that it will be that difficult to return to lifetime habits? Doubt it. Steve, quit your snivellin' and start your dribblin'.
That bugged me too in the Chron article about the Rockets reaction to switching back. Can't they just have the class to say we're glad to go back to leather. Whining about switching to composite and then whining about switching back to leather makes the players look like their complaining just to complain.
