After watching those videos all I have to say is: WOW! Dude looks fast as hell and can make some serious cuts. He breaks tackles, and looks like he has great skills. The injury thing worries me, but how can the Texans not try to take a shot on this guy. We need offense!! Oh and this is in the RIGHT forum - it concerns the Texans possible draft pick.
AP had one of the best freshman seasons college football has ever seen. And if it weren't for 2 season ending inuries (the collarbone was a bizarre accident), AP would pretty much be a lock for the #1 pick. He has great size and speed for a RB. He can break tackles but also has that extra boost of speed.
He hasn't had two season ending injuries. He had a high ankle sprain last season that caused him to miss some games and the freak collarbone injury while diving into the endzone this season, that's it.
If the Texans have an opportunity to draft Peterson I think they will do it. Bob McNair knows how much they screwed up and pissed off the fans by not picking VY or Bush. Even if Kubiak wants to draft a player like Alan Branch DT I think McNair will finally step in and force this move to bring back the fans. They can't afford to pass on another player with potential star power.
Does anyone have an idea of where he will fall in the draft. Im assuming that we will have another high draft pick this year. Sounds like the injuries arent much of a concern considering one of them was a fluke. Im sold.
He's awesome! I hope that the Texans pull him from next year's draft. In fact, I hope they pull him and Troy Smith from next year's draft. "That would be friggin' sweet"
even as a longhorn.... i would love for the texans to draft peterson. the only arguments that seem to keep people away from him is because he is "injury prone." or how his running style leads him to getting injured. the only injuries the has had is a high ankle sprain and one freak accident involving him breaking his collarbone. thats all. not "damaged goods" as some people make him out to be. sure his running style is aggressive which may lead to injuries, but he does it on a whole other level. when peterson touches the ball he gives more than 100%. Anyways, if joe thomas isnt available, which i dont think he will be, i think the best case would obviously be peterson in the first round. if we are able to get joe thomas...then kick@ss. it would be intereting to see if we can trade out our 2nd round pick for a current running back like cedric benson or rhodes...or something better we got going. edit: what about michael bush in a later round? i can see how he could be "damaged goods"
I was watching some clips of OJ in his days at USC last night or the night before on ESPN, and AP has a VERY similar style of running. Kind of upright but fast and elusive. Making people miss left and right, and plowing through runners as well. Im not very privy to running styles in the NFL. Does he run a little to upright?
He definitely has an upright running style. I always hear how he reminds people of Dickerson, but the person he reminds me of is Jim Brown (running style wise). He runs with more power than Dickerson did. ED ran with more of a slasher type style.

I understand that OLINE wins games and it would be GREAT to get Thomas but McNair NEEDS to get people to WANT to watch. If you can draft Adrian Peterson, you do it, IMHO. Then you have legit Playaction and OMG - 5-7 step drops!!
The juice is the epitome of a "slasher type". One might say that he carved his niche in the world by being a slasher type.
Not any we would give top 5 money for. If we draft AD, I'm cool with it, but I see another defensive 1st round.
Right now I see us picking in the 4-8 range and I don't think that will be high enough to get Peterson. But if he is available when we are on the clock it would be a bad move to not take him.
I don't think D'Brickashaw is playing that well this year. He needed double team help blocking Mario. Don't forget we will have Spencer coming back next year. Not saying we don't need help on O-line, but we can get it in rounds 2-6.
The only team in front of us that needs a RB would be Cleveland. All other teams have more pressing needs. I see 2 QB's taken, before we pick. McNair might step in on this one, because ticket sales will be down after this year. I think a AD would help Carr. AD would highly complement this offensive scheme. He has power between the tackles. He has great instincts in the open field. Not quite like Bush, but he has more strength and power than Bush to more than compensate. He has speed to the outside and will lower his shoulder for the extra yards. We would be very lucky to have him. The question is not whether he would be available as much as if we pick him if he was. I see us picking 6 behind Oakland, Detroit, Tampa Bay, Washington, Arizona. 4 of those teams have good running backs, but Oakland really needs a QB and Arizona needs protection (Thomas) on offense. If Cleveland or Green Bay sqeak in front of us, AD will be gone. That's my take.
