    I need pryuen's help on the full translation of the article. Nonetheless, here is a sina.com poll on who should be the second scorer after McGrady went down with back spasms:

    Luther Head 51.25% (12026 votes)
    Shane Battier 22.09% (5183 votes)
    Vassilis Spanoulis 14.55% (3414 votes)
    Rafer Alston 7.33% (1720 votes)
    Juwan Howard 4.78% (1121 votes)

    Total: 100.00% (23464 votes)

    My question is: Who on earth would have voted Juwan in this poll?

    Have to admit that it takes a team effort to compensate for the loss of Tracy. Head has to step up and take more touch.

    In the mean time, although you hate Juwan, his performance in following several games is important.

    Hope every body will step in and step up and give Yao some kind of support

    Rafer is going to put it on himself to be the second scorer. Unfortunately. He'll probably shoot us right out of the game if he can't control himself.

    Well, who else could you put on the poll? JVG? Novak? :rolleyes:

    I thought the results were pretty reasonable, there's always a few people who vote for their favorite players or simply dont know jack, Chinese and USA fans alike.

    Juwan had some rather big scoring nights last season when Yao and Tracy were out. He's not efficient but when called upon (and the focus of the offense) he can still put up points.

    I hope I never see him being the focus in offense again. Watching him last season was horrible. I appreciate his heart and his trying attitude, but man it was gruesome watching him be a first option.

    I don't hate Juwan btw.

    This is going to sound odd, but my first vote would be for Juwan Howard. Why? Tracy and Juwan have the most similar game in one respect, midrange shooting. True, Juwan has not shot well this year, but I believe he could in a one or two game stretch. Rafer and Luther will no doubt make up for the 3pt game of Tracy. Vassilis/Alston will make up for the assists. Spanoulis can play defense and pick up a few steals. Battier will probably make up some of the close to the basket plays, but Tracy takes more 15-18 footers than anything else. Juwan can and probably will take on that roll. The one thing that won't be made up for is Tracy's length.

    Basically, I think it will be a "make-up what Tracy does" by committee. Players will make up for what Tracy does from different positions too. If Juwan, Rafer, Vassilis, Luther and Battier can do a little more of what they do best, we can still win. The Rockets better bring intensity from start to finish too. The Lakers are good.

    luther head becomes the most trustworthy rox player by sina cyberdators
    both yao and jvg regard him as a good comrade(lol)

    http://sports.sina.com.cn december 11 of 2006 12:36

    poll on who should be the second scorer after mcgrady went down with back spasms:

    luther head 51.25% (12026 votes)
    shane battier 22.09% (5183 votes)
    vassilis spanoulis 14.55% (3414 votes)
    rafer alston 7.33% (1720 votes)
    juwan howard 4.78% (1121 votes)

    total: 100.00% (23464 votes)

    on december 10(beijing time), the game between rox and wizards, tmac left the game with back spasms(i watched the whole game, i remember he falling awkwardly and then it happened...)in the half time of 4th quarter, that made all the rox fans(chinese fans) worried about who can step in and step up?
    luther head made a few 3-pointers(2 3-pts in the 4th quarter?) and stabilized the condition. also chinese fans think head looks like luxun, a famous modern litterateur, translator, writer(1881-1936) blah...blah...that is really funny, head looks just like luxun! lol

    [IMG]

    the accuracy of head's 3-pointer is 50.5%, rank 14 in the league and nash ranks 13(most important: no1 in rox)

    it's not enough that fans consider him as the proper 2nd scorer, the attitude of his team-mates and jvg is really important though. so let us c how jvg evaluate head:"no doubt head is our best shooter! jvg usually speaks cautiously, the ex-king of scoring is changing, so jvg take luther head in consideration. luther head is a self-effacing and hard-working player(just like yao? eh, i like those players! eg chuck hayes, shane battier, etc), and that do make him growing up, jvg thinks head have been making progress and become better and better...

    also jvg pointed out: "now head do need to know what2do when his shooting% is low(dont have hot hands?), so what to do then? pass? defend? rebound?"

    what about the team-mates' points of view? yao:"i do have more chances inside the perimter with the assistance of outside shooters, and that leave much more space for 3-pointer shooters with my diversion(double-team even triple-team)...who is the role player? head! yup, this year head showed what he could do in mading 3-pts! and head is very confident, strong-hearted, he can made some key 3-pts especially when we need it..."

    yao take head 1st except tmac.

    head now is standing on the shoulder of a giant and looking into the bright distance...

    ◆here is my answer for ur question: Who on earth would have voted Juwan in this poll?
    ①maybe some fans have watched a few recent rox games, and they happend to catch a sight of juwan's good work;
    ②some fans do vote on their favorite;
    ③hayes main contribution is protecting yao and getting rebounds, snyder got injured, span is not experienced yet, novak? no...so let juwan do that again, with 10pts&10rebs;
    ④last season when mm-combo were out there, who is the key player? do u remember?
    ⑤1 of 5 tigers from michigan, 12 years experience, veteran leads the game sometimes...imho

    hope those translations will make u guys catch what the chinese fans meant.

    Seems the Chinese understand this team pretty well. Luther really showed himself as a clutch scorer last night and Howard played strong too.
