Do you think any of us care?

This is what I never understood. I hated the Jazz more than anybody when Stockton and Malone were there.

I don't have any feelings towards them whatsoever now, though. They're both gone. Do you hate the Sonics, still? The Suns?

Aren't you glad you weren't around for the first five-plus seasons of the Astros and Rockets? Who the hell would you be rooting for today? I mean, besides the Titans. :p

For the same reason why we have these threads or why people say "we should have drafted XXX guy"?

i think you understand the distinction, but it's funnier to pretend you don't! :)

but just in case...my grandparents (mom's parents) were HUGE astros fans. from the moment they got here, so really colt .45 fans. my grandfather believed having a MLB team put us on the map. my love of the 'stros came, in large measure, from he and my grandmom who would rarely miss a game together. they loved that i loved baseball and they passed it down. when the astros won the pennant in 2005, i thought instantly of them and how much i wished they were there with me to see that.

that was the FIRST baseball team they had in houston at the major league level. there was nothing to compare it to. no other team that preceded it.

one more thing...i never said i wouldn't be rooting for the texans. i will be. i'll be following them. but they don't have me. i wish they did, but they don't.

Respectfully, I don't think it's the same at all man. In fact, part of the reason some folks are so pissed about the draft is because they are Houston fans and the want their Houston team to not suck. They're frustrated.

You support Houston your way, Max will do it his, and I'll do it mine.

"Can't we all just git along?" :p

btw, DaDa (or was it Max??) has ruined me forever when I see your BBS handle--all I ever think whenever you post is "Swollen Dorito". :D :D

They quite literally "had me at hello". But if they wouldn't have, I can promise you they would have had me at 19-10.

Not a humilating football experiance for the Texans. Many games last year were humiliating. This was the best game in a least two years, the best game to watch. Texans played well. VY was the best college player ever, his success in the pros's is no surprise, although the timing and early intensity is.

Good post. We took the second coming to overtime. If he's so great, you'd think he could've beat the ****ty Texans in regulation.

BTW, four of our last five losses have been by less than a TD. I'm not stating that because I think they're moral victories because they're not. Just saying that it's not like we're the worst team of all time.

So, what I gather from this is that if there had never been an Oiler team in Houston, the Texans would have you?

i think it would be a lot easier for them. i think it would be a lot easier for them if bud hadn't been an ass and agreed to give up colors, name and logo.

The Sonics are not the same as the nemesis team with Gary Payton, Shawn Kemp and company.. George Freaking Karl

I like Ray Allen. He's Jesus.

Well for the record, I completely understand your position on the Texans and I see nothing bad or malicious in your posts here. These have been some of the most honest and thoughtful posts on the subject at hand. These "purity tests" aimed at gauging "true fandom" have begun to get out of hand around here.

It's like posted earlier on another thread: the Texans can't have it both ways. If they want to act like the pro football monopoly that they are - i.e. "We're the only game in town and you're stuck with us so go suck on that", then it's asking a bit much of the "fans" to develop any type of emotional attachment based on such a unilateral relationship. There is simply no basis to expect people to extend their loyalty to such a business entity especially in Houston where in the past folks did just that for the previous professional franchise only to find their years of earnest loyalty and support rewarded with squat when the owner moved his team to Nashville.

If they (Texans) continue to go on delivering the stench-ridden product that they have done for the past 5 years then one day they will wake up to the reality of cable & satellite TV and the Internet which enable a person to follow and support a pro football team that's not in their geographical area. Given the current wretchedness of Mr. McNair's franchise, it is not outside the realm of possibility that many people in his "target" customer base who want a football "fix" will simply switch their attention (and allegiance) elsewhere (like say 250 miles to the north where a certain team that has won 5 Superbowls is located). Finally, if this is too complicated - if we should all just calm down and look upon the Texans as "entertainment" then I'd like for some of the "super fans" out there to explain exactly what they found entertaining about what transpired on Sunday.

Yeah, everyone's acting like they lost 42-0 with Vince Young scoring 6 TDs while curing cancer. No one's answered my question why it took OT for the greatest human being alive to beat such a ****ty team that doesn't care about fans or winning.

Guess he just wasn't able to elevate his teammates against one of the worst teams in the NFL until OT. Poor guy.
