I just don't understand the irrational Juwan hate, really.

I know he has been really bad in the past couple of seasons, but the kind of hate that is directed towards him is the kind you reserve for someone who has been an absolute cancer, the likes of Terrell Owens. I just don't get it. And even now that he has been (very rightfully in my opinion) sent to the bench and has shown marked improvement in his rebounding, he's still vilified by most people.

I guess people just love to have someone to bash. Like anyone else, I wish we had a better power forward. But I will always respect Juwan for his durability, leadership and professionalism. And I can appreciate the improvement in his game -- hopefully that midrange jumper starts to fall consistently again.

I think at this point Juwan knows his role very well and he's doing good at it.

Althought Juwan isn't good enough as you image. But he have tried his best to do his job without complaining. I think Bonzi should learn something form Juwan.

I think why Juwan played better and better is because he knew better way of his contribution to the team this year. With Hayes often in fouls trouble and no mid-range shot technique which was exposed so obviously in the game vs. Timberwolves. with minutes increase Juwon's feeling of mid-range came back and he also knew the rockets needed more rebounding from his this year. He has done fairly good job recently and I hoped it continues and keep health until payoff ended this season.

Another example is TMAC, he is also transiting his contribution when he felt bad on shot percentage, which paid more atttention on assists when is not only help the Rockets get more wins but also avoid more collision when penetrate the pain which protect his back spasm protentially.

Juwan's rebounding has been nothing short of sensational. shame about he's 6 million dollar contract though..the stigma of overrpaid will allways haunt him.

JHO did play well in last few games.

another thing he brings: Yao gets 3-5 less rebounds when he's on the court :D

you can see sometimes he's grabbing rebounds against Yao.

I have to give Juwan credit. He has been an asset with fewer minutes. Last season I grew frustrated seeing him play against western 4 s. He is holding his own and has been a surprise.

Is his contract for 2 more seasons after this one? That is a long , long time.

I've called Chuck out on his fouling since last season and will continue to do so. This isn't "hating" on Chuck either. I love what happens when he's on the floor and we need more of it (him being on the floor). Juwan cannot keep up the good play. Padgett plays well every blue moon. Novak isn't ready to do much yet. Chuck must find a way to stay on the floor for this team to continue winning. 14-6 is great and we wouldn't have such a good record if it weren't for Chuck but he's got to stop fouling. Whoever said this is like his rookie year made a good point but how many rookies foul at the rate he does?

First of all, Juwan has been playing better last couple of games. I am not even talking about stat-wise improvement. His shots are still not falling and he is still bricking shots in the paint BUT he is actually hustling out there. Perhaps more than anything, its the lack of hustle that is the most annoying part of Juwan considering whatever physical *gifts* he had to begin with left him long time ago. But if he has been hustling last couple of games, it brings up the question...

How is this PROFESSIONALISM as a lot of people claim in regards to Juwan?

Let's take a look at his comments at the beginning of the season. He stated that he is not worried about getting playing time despite the emergence of Chuck Hayes and arrival of several new players because the coach knows what he brings to the table bla bla....

Now that his starting job was taken away, all of a sudden we see Juwan actually hustle and go for rebounds??

How is it professionlism when the guy was clearly dogging it when he had his starting job? Its clear he took it for granted and was just going thru motions. His pride got hurt when Chuck Hayes, a nobody out of nowhere, took away his strating job and finally it Juwan to actually start caring!

Also, a "professional and classy guy" does not steal 2-3 rebounds from his own teammates! It has become a trend lately. LOL!

Geez, dude. Only you could spin it that his better play is indicative of him being a bad player.

Yes I can see that. I did not question Rocket's professionalism.

This thread was about Juwan so I made a relevant point about Juwan.

So any explanation on Juwan's attitude about taking things for granted?

How is this a spin on him being a bad player??

I dont even need to spin that!! Everyone knows he is bad!! LOL!

I am questioning him as a professional as people claim him to be.

PS. Are you gonna keep editing your one liner response?

He is not the most talented. He is not the best rebounder or shooter. He is not the most athletic. BUT, he knows his role. He comes in every game and does his best.

this shouldnt be supprising, people have long said Juwon should be a backup 4, while they meant to say hes not good enough to start, they also meant that he can be decent coming from the bench.

The difficulty about Howard is that he is well past his peak and now has very limited ability to contribute to a team effort. Even as a back up these limitations hinder our team's performance. With that being said and having observed him recently, I get the feeling that he and JVg have had a long heart to heart talk
about his future role on the team. The result is that Howard is now being used efficiently to apply his abilities, of which he had two decent ones -mid range shot and rebounding, the other which is very difficult for him is to pass the ball to an open shooter with a greater percentage shot than the one available to himself. This is slowly improving.
We could do much better if we had a decent starting Power Forward but it looks like we must be patient for a couple of seasons if the Rox Management sits still.
No hate, for Howard is a decent fellow. :p
