agreed... such big bodies are difficult to control so it's not easy to grab a lotta rebounds... Dennis Rodman and Ben Wallace are like 6'8'' and grabbed a ridiculous number of rebs.
I find all these critics very amusing. If Yao improves the aspects of his game as the experts say, wouldn't he be unstoppable? Simply tearing through defenders, his stamina never down, his passing is pin-point everything is perfect. Yao goes for 30 pts and 15 rebounds, and then what will the experts say? He's starting to hog the ball! Come on! I mean, he's slow, he should be getting more rebounds! He should be assisting more! He should be blocking the sun! He should be running the fast break! But I feel that this guy gave Yao his props and instead of pulling stuff out of thin air (coughRosencough) he interviewed some coaches of the NBA, and their nit-picking of Yao I actually find encouraging, that all coachs take him seriously and can breathe a small sigh of relief that there are some aspects of Yao's game that are still not at their best. Hopefully JVG and his assistant coachs all know that too.
Has he solved the AIDS and cancer yet? Has he brought peace to middle east yet? Has he stopped genocide in Darfur yet? And you guys already call him the best center in NBA? Pathetic.
yao is averaging just under 10 a game. if you watch the game closely, he gies away 3 or 4 rebounds a game to teammates who catch the ball at the same time. sura it's nice to let hayes and howard up thier stats, but i want to see him keep it for himself. he's the one with all the pressure.
Yet another article basically saying Yao hasn't lived up to expectations. It's bascially a backhanded compliment piece. Nothing to see here, move along.
1. If Yao is to have his lack of competition used against him. So should Shaq. 2. Shaq never led the league in rebounding or Blocked Shots. 3. Shaq never once made the all-defensive first team, even when he was a beast amongst men. Why is Shaq so respected? Great player, yes. But he is highly overrated when it comes to the big picture. Imagine Shaq with Yao's work ethic--he would have been the 2nd greatest center of all time...he coasted by on his talent and size.
I love it. Yao is putting up better numbers than almost any player in the league so now the critics have resorted to even more nitpicking. Funny, I remember Shaq being considered the greatest center in the league for 10 years all while he couldn't sink half of his free throw attempts. So I guess shooting less than 50% from the stripe is just a tiny flaw but not averaging 11 or 12 rebounds per game prevents Yao from being considered great. What's worse? Having to sit at the end of games because your a liability on offense or not having Rodman-like rebound numbers?
Wow, it's just that easy! Let's have Yao RAISE his leve in every game by scoring more than 27 point, then we'll go 80-0!
So we'll be so dominant that some Eastern Conference team won't bother showing up for either game? Just messin' with ya, I get what you're saying. Yao is playing at an MVP-type level and yet all we hear about is what he CAN'T do. It's rediculous.
Yao Ming is the David Wesley of great centers. People will always want to replace him in the best center rankings with some younger more atheletic player, and will fail.
