I was at a HEB grocery store and they had a electronics section which i checked out....I ended up buying a Toshiba gigabeat 20GB for $99.00 The lady said both the 20gb and 10gb were both the same price so i opted for the last 20gb they had. The retail price they listed was a little over 300. I bought it and thought i would decide later if i wanted to keep it does anyone know or have one? Also, we have an ipod video in the house and have 2 ipod accessories altec lansing boom box and a jbl onstage room speaker..and i want to buy an mp3 player but is it worth it to buy an ipod bc i have the accessories or can i somehow use the toshiba with them? thanks
wait.... they sell electronics at HEB? What neighborhood do you live in? My HEB has hobos and prostitutes outside of them, and they have a huge stockpile of alcohol. No MP3 players though
nope not pretty at all, they are old and nasty. further down the road right on crosstimbers and 45 they got alot of hoes there, a little better looking.
Wow that's either a great price or something is fishy (the hookers?) How can HEB sell it for $100 under the lowest internet price? I've been researching MP3 players but the reviews vary wildly. The Toshiba's get prtty good reviews. The drawbacks have been battery life and difficulty of changing the battery and a less intuitive interface, no fm or recording features. The good was the interoperability between formats and a good CD ripping feature. You tell me, will the Toshiba dock in the apple stuff? (I'd bet not, keeping the systems proprietary, so you have to buy their music is the big boy's strategy to make billions and billions) http://www10.shopping.com/xGS-toshiba_gigabeat_20~NS-1~linkin_id-7000462
If it costs $200 to get one online, sell it on eBay. Brand new @ $150 = Sold before you hit submit = A $50 Gift Certificate to the Apple store. But Ipods suck. Super-proprietary bull****. I hate them. At least get the rockbox firmware.
Grocery stores have to keep up with Wal-Mart now, so they're starting to sell electronics and small appliances. The brands usually suck, though. The Kroger by my house sells DVD players and TVs.
yeah ipods do have a lot of drawbacks, like a previous poster noted, it's the propriety accessories that make the item hot I dislike the itunes software, which is to me what hinders the Ipod for more advanced users. It's inflexible, slow, and the ipod itself has poor selections on EQ and other sound settings. I just purchased a brand new 4GB Meizu M6 Miniplayer from eBay for $192 that comes with 5 accessory items (1 clear case, 1 silicon work-out case, 1 arm band, 1 AC wall charger, and 1 FM transmiter car adapter) The player is about the size of a Ipod Mini but plays 20 fps videos, photos, has extremely good audio quality, customizable background and colors, and has UMS ability (drag and drop songs and files). Also, it's just as sexy looking as an Ipod. Check it out for those looking for an Ipod alternative.
the HEB is in Katy, its a new one, off of grand parkway and fry also, the lady said the model has been discontinued hence the price drop I also figured out how I can use the ipod accessories, through an aux cable provided by the speakers, pretty easy i figured i cant get another mp3 player for close to a hundred bucks, unless its a flash drive or 1gb i heard the same cons, most notably the confusing software
the toshiba gigabeat 30gb is the new one that you guys are thinking about. the one he got is an older model and only 20gb. not the same thing, though for 99 bucks still a good deal.
