cool... how can one become power user in oink? just by maintaining a good ratio? oink is pretty cool! edit: its actually difficult to maintain a ratio, there are lots of people seeding while not so many people leeching...

Okay, I've got one invite left. I left off on Rocketeer, and I figure I'll hand it to him if he puts down his email. Otherwise I'll just move down to the next guy (Iron McFist). I get two invites a month so I guess when I get those I'll move down the list and invite the next two.

Yeah, that's the problem with a lot of these private torrent sites. It's not that easy to keep up a ratio. You really have to work at it. The trick that I used at oink was to target audiobooks. They're usually larger than a regular album (so seeding lasts a bit longer), and if you can catch one with a few (maybe 5-6 or up) leechers at the beginning, it should be popular enough for you to catch up. And I pretty much never remove a torrent. I just always keep my seeds open, and automatically fire up my torrent program when my computer boots. That way it'll be seeding in the background every time I use my comp.
Like I said, I'm holding onto bit invites unless I see someone that becomes a power-user on oink or an equivalent private torrent site.
OK, so I am using Oink, trying to get my ratio to a respectable level downloading things that there is some demand for and when my download is complete, my upload stops alltogether. The seed is still open, but it won't upload. I do not have this problem with any other site. Any ideas?
It just means that at the present time, no one is downloading from you. Don't worry, just keep it open and eventually ppl will download.
I'm kinda getting the hold of oink now and my ratio is at about .9xx you just have to keep your seeds open, usually I close them after 1:1 but now it takes forever to get to 1:1 also you can try to upload your own stuff and that helps alot...the download speeds are awesome
