Say what you will about Juwan's skills, he's been nothing but a professional after loing his minutes-- stayed ready physically and mentally. And he's even been somewhat productive on the boards recently.

His attitude is quite a stark contract to somebody else "on the team"...

I've actually been impressed with his rebounding as of late. Now only if he can learn to stop shooting. :D

It's articles like these that make Howard the most OVERRATED player on the rockets. You don't see special articles about Alston or Head do you?

Say it while you're reading this everyone. Juwan Howard is six foot ten inches of emu dung.

Amazing what competition will do. Howard's been rebounding out of his mind to stay in the rotation.

Considering that he's overpayed, is a blackhole, and a shorter younger Chuck hayes plays the position better than he does, he has no right to say anything negative.

"Coming off the bench, it's tough to get into a rhythm," Howard said. "First, this is something new to me. I've always been one of the first or second options (on offense). Last year, when the guys (McGrady and Yao Ming) went out, I was sort of the main option out there. So, offensively I had a lot of flow.

Precisely why when he starts we are typically down by 10 before you can say James Naismith. The solution is to send him to the practice court and let him play a game of 5 on 5 with a bunch of streetballers for about 10 minutes so he can get in a rhythm. Then run out onto the game court and let JVG plug him in the game???

If a man's pulse gets down to 15 beats per minute, he's in trouble, isn't he? Juwan's basketball pulse over the course of a season is quite low. I'm glad we felt his pulse in the last couple games, just don't bank on feeling it too many times this season as it continues to get fainter and fainter. Right now, he has positive numbers with 111 and Battier. If he continues to get significant minutes with the other 3, expect those numbers to fade to the negative. Just an upside bump in an otherwise downhill journey.

Juwan does act like a man. I appreciate what he does for the team. I like him.

He's done more for the team than Battier, Hayes, Head, Alston, Deke, Spanoulis, Novak, Padgett or Snyder. He was there in the playoffs, man. You want to throw Rockets out like old shoes? OK, so he's getting old. But how can you hate on this guy?

The guy is struggling with his shooting but the good thing is he is hustling on the floor. Another Hayes effect to the team. I'm just afraid that if his shots comes back, he'll slow down to his own sluggish pace. Well, I just hope I'm mistaken on this one. But I think the same case also would apply to Chuck Hayes. If he's a good shooter, I don't think the hustling will be there. So it's a great job for JVG and CD for having the right mix in the roster.

When the best thing to describe a player is that he's a "true professional", then you know that player sucks. His propensity to be a bricklayer notwithstanding, I've actually liked Juwan's game this year. He is playing better on defense and is rebounding in a way I didn't imagine possible. Thank god we now have some competition to actually make him play hard.

Wasn't he out of the playoffs with a heart virus? Sorry to answer your question with anotehr question, but how can you not hate the guy? He's got one of the worst +/- in the league several years in a row now. He's earning the 3rd most amount of money. He costed us a higher pick last year with that stupid garbage game. Now he's trying to take out Battier on uncontested rebounds while missing more layups than chuck hayes.

As some have observed... I think Juwan is actually better when his shots are NOT falling.

Sure, he's not fast, strong, or have much of a vertical, but when he just forgets about the semi-decent 18 footer and concentrate on getting offensive boards, he's has a bigger impact in the game than he does hitting 40-45% of his Js.

Actually, I'll go so far as to say that the 15-18 footer is rarely that great a weapon for big guys. It's usefull if 1) you are mobile enough so that the shot sets up drives to the basket or 2) you are REALLY good at it, hitting at least 50% of that shot.

I don't hate Juwan. I hate Juwan and Yao playing together for 30 mpg. It's not going to work long term. One game, two games, that's about it. And then the defense sags off him, doubles Yao, and he clunks a bunch of jumpers and we start losing. Juwan's a good guy, a good locker room presence. But he is better served helping our youngsters by drawing up the plays on the sidelines and stuff like that. Any runs of double digit rebounds are miracles and gifts from God. We'll take them but don't depend on them or we will be praying for a big miracle come playoff time.
