In the spirit of hating on the BCS: Why is USC ranked ahead of Florida? -They each have one loss. USC lost to an UNRANKED team. Florida lost to AUBURN, almost a TOP TEN team. -Florida has beaten MUCH better teams Florida beat #13, #10, and if they win tonight #8 USC has beaten #19, #21, #17, and a Notre Dame team that is SO OVERRATED
The SEC Championship game between Arkansas and Florida today should play a big role the answer to your question. Surely if Florida beats Arkansas today, they will jump in front of USC. At least I hope so! I'd love to see an SEC team in the national championship game. I'd rather it be Arkansas, but they choked last week against LSU and lost their chance. GO HOGS and GO SEC!
This is all you need to know about the BCS title game: 9/7 - Boise State wins at Oregon State 42-14 10/28 - USC loses at Oregon State 33-31
because florida played 5 unranked teams at the end of the year and only beat 1 of them by more then 1 score case closed
I'm a florida fan, but you have to respect usc's non-conference schedule. arkansas, notre dame, nebraska. that's strong. the only chance florida has is a usc losing, and them waylaying arkansas, because they still have to jump michigan. I do think michigan doesn't deserve to be in front of them.
True, but that only influences the human polls. The computer polls do not keep track of margin of victory. I think it has more to do with PAC 10 favoritism. Florida hasn't been a media darling since Spurrier left, and even then, their program was the Texas Tech of Florida behind Florida St. and Miami.
It won't matter when Darren McFadden goes off for 200 yards tonight.... Got 4 words for ya: WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PIG SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEE RAZORBACKS!
I really don't think USC should be there...Florida, is more deserving, IMHO...Boise St. is undefeated, but I don't think they beat anyone quality, but to go undefeated is an amazing accomplishment... as an aside, Gonzaga is kicking the sh*t out of Texas...
I'm rooting for Florida, but USC's offense is a thing of beauty. year in and out. I thought it would slow down a bit with the loss of Chow but its still great. palmer, lienart, and now booty, has any school ever had three qbs of that caliber to follow each other.
The computer polls favor USC because they played the most difficult schedule in the country. Their non-conference schedule included 3 ranked teams, including two of the best teams in the Big 12 and the SEC. And they dominated all of those non-conference games. Meanwhile, Florida played Southern Miss, Central Florida, and Western Carolina.
Hell yes, the BCS meltdown is still on. So here's what happens next. Now USC is out of the picture with their chokejob. So Michigan and Ohio State have a rematch in the Championship. Michigan wins leaving both Michigan and Ohio State with one loss (and both lost to each other) Next, Florida wins its game and then gets the right to b**** and complain that they got screwed out of the title by the BCS. And on top of that, Boise State wins the Fiesta Bowl and becomes the nation's only undefeated team and gets the right to complain about that. So our national champion has one loss to the team it beat. Florida whines about getting locked out and Boise State is the nation's only undefeated team but isn't the national champion. I <3 the BCS.
http://www.kiva.net/~jsagarin/sports/cfsend.htm By this ranking, USC was #3. Ohio State was #36. OSU has some good teams at the top of that (UT, Michigan), but they also played teams like Northern Illinois and Bowling Green. USC had 10 bowl teams on their schedule - so it had more depth. So it all just depends on how you measure it. That said, this is moot. USC lost. Florida might lose. If they win, Michigan or Florida is an interesting discussion. Florida has the much tougher schedule and better wins. Michigan has looked more dominant.
Michigan has looked more dominant against weaker competition than Florida. Florida has looked less dominant against an overall stronger schedule than Michigan. I'm not disagreeing w/ you, just wanted to add my own additional opinion onto yours.
