I have about 3 or 4 churches and temples located within a mile or so of where I live...and all different types as well. I will gladly take a place of worship over low-rent apartment complexes, low-income housing, strip centers, gas stations, liquor stores, etc. That's probably the next best thing outside of doing nothing with the land or building more homes.

I wouldn't feel as joyous, but I'd still laugh.

It's his land, deal with it.

Houses of worship in place of low-rent apartment complexes...Hmm.

You just gave me an idea, be right back...

the guy is being a jackass. you can agree with him that muslims are scary and shouldn't be anywhere near us. but treating people poorly isn't a good thing.

    ?

I didn't say they can't build a church.... just love the fact that this guy is going to demonstrate his viewpoint.

America is a Christian nation, deal with it.

America is nowhere near a Christian nation.

The KKK demonstrated their viewpoint, too. Cross burnings were a real hoot.

This is racism...xenophobia...all of that rolled into one. A group of suburbanites are nervous because Muslims are building a mosque in their community...so instead of engaging them, they meet them with something to offend them. I don't see that as being worthy of celebration. It's just embarassing.

Yes and Al Queda demonstrated their viewpoint, too. Blowing up the WTC was a real hoot as well.

If you want to draw ridiculous comparisons, so can I.

You know what's more irritating than racism? People who are concerned with showing that they are so enlightened and open-minded that they have to take this holier than thou stance about everything. I'm sure you would have no problem moving your family to Compton, because anything else would be racism right?

Nobody is saying that the KIA (snicker) can't build their church, but people shouldn't rip on this guy for expressing himself. If they don't like it, they can pack up and leave. I for one will be the first one in line to go see these pig races. I'm gonna bring some bacon and sausage kolaches to snack on too. Yummm bacon.

This is the most lazy and intellectually dishonest argument in this thread. Very weak effort.

I'm not talking about blowing crap up. I'm talking about being a jackass. I'm talking about using intimidation to "welcome" new neighbors. Literally SEEKING to offend people because you don't want them near you. I don't think that's worthy of celebration. I think it's worthy of criticism.

I don't think many people got that, but thanks for the comic relief in this thread full of tensions and argument.

That was nicely placed, and very hilarious :D

The mosque will be a place of worship, a place where people exercise their personal religious faiths and try to find peace within themselves. The neighbor is just a hateful person trying to intimidate people he doesn't like. That you put those things on par with each other and would actively support the intimidation and hatred demonstrated by the neighbor is pretty sad.

Maybe the neighbor doesn't want his property values adversely effected by the mosque?

They can exercise their faith, who said they can't?

I don't necessarily know if he doesn't like the muslims, maybe he just didn't like the way they were trying to force him out.

I don't like the religion of Islam. That's also my right as an American. Just because there is a right to practice religion, doesn't mean it's illegal to have personal opinions and beliefs. It is even more sad that you liberals want to enforce a culture that makes it impossible to dislike people.

It's your right to be hateful and it's my right to point out that you actively support hatred and intimidation as a means to curtail the rights of minorities. It doesn't take a liberal to recognize the kind of intolerant hatred that you're promoting.

You have the right to be hateful, but expect to be ridiculed for it.

No one is saying you have to like everyone else, but you have to tolerate them.

I think you confuse dislike and hatred.

Nobody is curtailing any rights. The man wants to race pigs.
