Yikes. KRIV and 610 AM KILT are reporting that Mo has a torn right ACL acquired in a pick-up game yesterday. More to come, I'm sure.

Man I'm always paranoid of pick-up games, but I was more worried about Cat and Franchise then Mo! CRAP! I wonder how bad it is. Is it a bad one that will keep him out all year, or one that will keep him out half the year. *Sigh*

How long (on average) does it take to recover from a blown ACL? Is it possible that he can ready to play by mid-November or
December? Man this sucks. I love the Rocks, but I really don't want to see them in the lottery again next year.

    :(

Did they say how long he would be out. Is it correct to assume that Mo is done for the season? Our front court was already weak but now we have none what so ever.

    This sucks!!!!

There's different versions of injuries. The running back for Virginia Tech who injured himself a few days ago was believed to have an injury that would have only kept him out a few weeks. That was proven wrong, but it depends on how bad the injury is. I'm not an expert or anything, but I've just seen a ton of different type of injuries with players. This sucks! :(

If it's an ACL or an achilles tear, he won't be recovered to a decent extent until next season. He may be able to play a little late this season, but he won't be anything but a shadow of himself.

Obviously just guessing at this point, but players do not come back and be immediately effect from either injury right away.

The Rockets playoff chances would seem to hinge on a trade for a big man now.

They are now saying it is an achilles tendon tear. The Rockets Doctors are examining him this afternoon. The earliest possible speculated return is the All-Star Break, but its just as likely he will miss most or all of the season.

All we can do now is sit and wait...

All I know is that Cato needs to get his lazy @ss into gear NOW! Get White NOW! PLEASE! I'll take a front court of White and KT right now. That is a good rebounding team, and swing in Cato and Griffin. Hopefully possibly losing Mo and Dream will get Cato off his @ss and playing hard!

I think Kenny, who was looking to have his minutes greatly reduced with the addition of Eddie, will be an admirable starter. His skills are probably more complimentary to that of Rice, Mobley and Francis anyway.

Although 4 legitimate offensive threats usually better than 3. ;)

Actually it was told to me as .... a bad achilles strain ... which translates to a sprain, I guess .... which in essence is a tear I suppose. Confusing eh? But there is a scale you can refer to .... sort of ......

Usually in situations such as this: the key is to listen to the spin they put on the report as it leaves the trainer's mouth.

"bad tear" = a very bad sprain ( rupture of a large amount of attachment tissue, possibly involving avulsion of some bone distally or proximally)

"bad sprain" = moderate sprain ( rupture of tissue itself, vague and misleading by intention, usually means a proximal or distal end involvment not necessarily involving an avulsion)

"bad strain" = mild to moderate stretch with usually minimal tear (also vague I know .... but it's at the low end of the scale, usually means a stretch of the tissue with some mid-length trauma, or minimal attachment trauma)

As I said I have heard it was described as a "strain" of the achilles tendon.

PS: (Doc) Dallas Rocket .... you want to add anything?

This is going to be interesting because that means that Rice is going to get more touches, and is going to be able to operate in the post more.

By the way oeilpere that is a GREAT point! I can't tell you how many times I have heard achille tears turn out to be strains or slight tears. The same happened to my brother. He had a very slight tear, which pretty much means a strain. If that is the case, I could see Mo coming back by the start of the season, December at the latest. If THAT long. God I hope that is what it is!
