This is a forum for all Rockets fans. Everybody should be invited to express his opinion. Of course, it would be nice to see a higher discussion level. But what do you want to do: Introduce an IQ-test, before being allowed to register? Anyway, you are not forced to answear to "silly" posts.
That's right. But fans loving their team love to discuss what could be changed to overcome problems/to play better etc. I don't think this is bad. Otherwise we should forbid the media, forums and all the other institutions where people can express their opinion.
Concerning Bonzi, I agree with you. In my eyes, he has no professional attitude towards basketball and therefore JVG was right not to let him play.
Actually, most of us wondered why such a hard-working guy like Spanoulis who really plays for the team and offers qualities which were clearly missing in previous games, was not used.

Once again, I did not claim that the Rockets' direction is to arrange an opinion poll for each of their decision among the fans. But: A fan has definetly the right to express his opinion about the tam's progress, especially because he is paying a lot for this product. And it is good for the direction to take it into account. Because the Rockets are nothing without their fan base. I can''t imagine they would like to play in an empty Toyota Center!

    It is?

It's a forum for anyone Clutch wants. Some have been banned for being offensive, but I imagine some have also been banned for trollish behaviour. If all someone does it post 'xxx sux', they are wasting of bandwidth.

It has nothing to do with IQ.

And 'silly' posts do not need to be responded to, (esp. with the wonderful ignore feature), but it lowers the quality of the experience here. At times this board appears bipolar and manic deppressive... and our team is actually doing well and has great upside. Go figure.

    Again, you miss the distinction.

I don't advocate limiting opinions, no matter how inane some may be. If someone is going to say that someone on our team whos professional and working hard for us.... 'sux'... then it's only fair that a cogent argument is made and not just 'he sux'.

As stated, opinions are fine. But this is a discussion board. If you post something here, dozens or hundreds of people will be taking time to read it. Make it worthy of the other fans' time. Be respectful to others in this community...make some attempt to think...be insightful.

And venting is also a natural benefit of this community, but you can tell the difference between a thoughtful poster who vents and one who contributes almost nothing but hating on our players, coaches or management.

I am the wrong person to address these comments to, as I do not defend posts a la "JVG sucks". I generally stated that in a forum you can write what ever you want, as long as you don't break the forum's rules. It's up to you, if you read it or even comment it.
However, I do defend all those who criticize players, the coach, the managers as long they reason their claims. I don't mind people criticizing JVG for not using Spanoulis, as most give arguments like:

    - he is the best perimeter defender in our team
    - he can penetrate very well
    - he is aggressive and fights like hardly anyone else

If people should not lead conversations like this, let's close the forum and go to bed.

And we are still 7-4 without the team being on any roll or anything like that. We won against the hated Mavericks who I remember someone stating:

WIN AGAINST THE MAVS AND ALL IS FORGIVEN...

Which I should of known would last all but a millisecond of a NY Minute. By the way, the Heat got their asses kicked also but lets just concentrate on all the negatives that we have because its Gundys fault no matter what.

I am mostly upset because EVERYTIME I say I am NOT going to reply to threads like these...I ALWAYS DO! That shows you right there the awesome willpower that I have.

Maybe, just maybe, be respectful to others in this community except when those "others" are Chinese or Chinese-descent?

When you have poster like NewYorker, who is an established Chinese/China hating racist bigot, felt at ease with making a veiled racist remark out of a topic that has nada zero zilch to do with race -- Chinese or otherwise, and bringing his personal/political/racial agenda into a forum that's strictly on Rockets, self-righteous comments like the one you made above can only be take with a grain of salt, if it doesn't lose the credibility altogether.

The players LOVE JVG. Do you know that? They love him. None of them have complained about the moves or rotations. None. Juwon Howard didn't complain when he spent the first few games on the bench.

That says a lot about a coach. WE have an awesome coach. And don't listen to all those people who critque Van gundy on creativeness or whatever.

Creativity doesn't when basketball championships. It's building leadership, smart decision making, and an atmosphere of trust. It's instilling confidence in your players. It's about making them believe.

Coaching is so much more then subs and x's and o's. That's a big part of it, but it's just one of 10 different things.

All I say is, let the man have a chance to forge a champion before you go nuts. Hey, if I don't see the improvement over the season, I'll be first in line saying fire JVG!

But JVG doesn't quit on his players easily, and hopefully the fans of this city don't quit on a guy who gives a lot to this team.

C'mon guys. You have to keep this going whether we WIN or LOSE. If we lose, this thread comes up. Now that we are winning, I need to continue the hate thread.

Guys and Gals! Don't lose your spirit!

Clutch, can we make this a sticky? :p

No, it is a shock someone would confuse "w-i-n" and "w-h-e-n."

I am not here to hate Gundy. He has done an adequate job this year and I'm okay with it.

Our biggest problem this year is Tmac being a wuss, not Gundy.

That said, I can understand when people hate on Gundy. I can understand people who like Gundy. I just dont understand the people who are in love with this guy. Exactly what has he accomplished in his career?

I'm guessing its just a New York kinda thing.

Well, JVG has had a winning team every year he has coached with the exception of our injury-plagued last season.

He took an 8 seed to the NBA finals.

He is willing to mix it up to have his players' backs, by physically mixing it up, or by speaking the truth and paying with his checkbook for what he says.

I like JVG very much, and if we make a good run in the postseason I will be very glad to see him given a hefty contract extension.

JVG is flat out costing this team wins over his refusal to play bonzi. If rockets don't win a championship this year, JVG definitely needs to go back to TNT. I'm tired of his act and antics.
