I got a Sty the other day (not sure from where) but does anyone know of sure-fire home remedies to get rid of it?

I've been putting hot compresses (boiled egg) on it a couple times a day but I've read things like rubbing your eye with a gold ring, using a peeled potatoe, tea bags, etc...

Has anyone every tried these remedies?

It is basically almost like a white head. Is a clogged gland. Our eye doctor said to press gently on the area to PREVENT stys. If you have a very small one you can pass and pop it and the gunk is actually good for your eye. But I think you just have to wait the big ones out.

I know it's not recommended, but when I've gotten them before I just scraped them off with my fingernail. Once or twice a long time ago I got one in the MIDDLE of my eyelid, not the edge, where it was not even visible until I really looked hard. That sucked.

When I had one, I got some of that Sty medicine from CVS and then put heat on it a lot and it eventually went away. Mine was in an area where I couldn't pop it though so if you can I would attempt to do that.
