The difference is that Greg Popovich benched his starters and put in an all 2nd team unit that changes the complexity of the game, and JVG left our starters in there, and they got steamrolled when the Spurs brought their RESTED starters back in the game.

JVG got outcoached in that game....plain and simple.

I'm beginning to lose hope that JVG will come to his senses and play him. It took an injury to get vspan in, but Novak already had that injury with hayes, but instead jvg went with howard and padgett. So unless, howard and padgett go down, novak isn't getting a chance anytime soon

Uh...what were you watching? He got burned on defense repeatedly, was horrible against the pick and roll, had no chemistry on court, zero rebounds... I love Novak as much as anyone, but man, he's got a long way to go.

Seeing that you posted this after the game, I am having a hard time figuring out if you are being sarcastic or not

Ummmm, it's not that bad (though 1 of them was pure garbage time) but he was not the solution either, he got ripped on D and offered nothing else.

Agreed with that ...he keeps loosing his man...his defense is just terrible. I always laugh when i see him running to his man who is left wide open to make the jump shot.

    HE got ripped on D????

LOL - the whole team got ripped on D......

Head gave up how many back door baseline cuts?

    Who was guarding Barbossa again?

    Where was the zone defense?

I think Novak needs seasoning, but I find it atrocious that people are hammering him when he has been on the bench for so long and is still developing his NBA game.

JVG did not do the team any favors tonight by not playing a zone, or by adjusting to the Suns style BEFORE the game even started.

Would Popovich ever start Barry over Bowen?....come on !!

Had no chemistry because in the 2nd and 3rd quarter his teammates were ignoring him. Was not his faught they would not pass the ball to him, when he was WIDE OPEN MANY TIMES!!! Not once did he have a play or a shot in those 2 quarters.

Its more idiotic for JVG to put him out there, if you are not going to let him shoot. So what he went 1 for 3 in the first 4 minutes of the game. How many bricks did everybody else, not named Luther, throw up from 3 point land.

If they are going to shoot (30) 3 pointers a night, I want Novak taking about 10 of those.

He needs to be played like Bullard. When he is out there, he should be utilized for shooting not defense. To put him out there during 2 quarters and not once get him the shot, is STUPID.

Yes, he did. Did you watch the game? He got ripped on D and contributed very little offense, and continued to be the worst rebounder in the frontcourt. Simply because others also sucked doesn't change the fact that he is validating JVG's reasons for keeping him on the bench: He's not helping the team when he's out there, and is probably hurting.

But don't mind this, please continue with the standard "JVG hate rookies and ruins them" crap.

You read that wrong....I meant it as EVERYONE got ripped on D, including him....

But he is out there for offense, play a fricken zone.....utilize his skills while he develops his D.

It was not his D that cost us the game, it was the whole team settling for jumpers...

Yes, Novak does have a long way to go. But he will never get there if we continue to neglect him. I want to train him now, even at the cost of losing a game or two, if it means he will ready for the playoffs.

I think it was a mistake starting Novak over Hayes in this game, though I was intrigued initially. We aren't going to beat Phoenix trying to play their game. The stats in this game are remarkable. We're one of the best rebounding teams in the league, and Phoenix is one of the worst. And yet we got outrebounded by 19! And Phoenix rarely gets to the line, yet we gave them 32 freebies.

Yao/Hayes has been a good combination for us all year ... why move away from that? Novak isn't going to do a better job guarding the perimeter than Chuck.
