    "Who's in Your Fave 5?": Week 4

"What is 'Who's in Your Fave 5?'," you ask?

Well, we're glad you asked. Each week we'll bring you five players, one each at of the five positions -- point guard, shooting guard, small forward, power forward and center -- who have had the best week in five categories: points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks.

For the second edition of "Who's in Your Fave 5?," we're gonna look at the games between Nov. 20 to Nov. 26.

So, check back each week to see which five players belong in your Fave 5 for the week.
    PG, Steve Nash
    PPG RPG APG SPG BPG
    23.0 3.0 11.3 0.5 0.0

The Suns won all four games last week, with Nash tallying 20-plus points and 10-plus assists in three-of-four. The back-to-back MVP is putting up better numbers than last season.

    SG, Allen Iverson
    PPG RPG APG SPG BPG
    38.5 4.5 6.0 2.5 0.5

Iverson returned to the Sixers lineup after missing two games and immediately performed, netting 46 points and 10 assists in a win against the Bulls. It was the 75th 40-point game of the Answer's career.

    SF, Carmelo Anthony
    PPG RPG APG SPG BPG
    31.3 4.8 5.3 2.8 0.3

Move over LeBron, there is a new Fave 5 small forward in town. Fellow '03 Draft pick Carmelo Anthony jumped to the top of the NBA's scoring lead and has the Denver Nuggets playing top-flight basketball.

    PF, Dirk Nowitzki
    PPG RPG APG SPG BPG
    28.3 11.8 3.3 0.8 1.5

A 10-game Dallas win streak punctuated by big Dirk nabbing a double-double in seven of those contests helped Nowitzki overtake Texas rival Tim Duncan as the week's top power forward.

    C, Yao Ming
    PPG RPG APG SPG BPG
    26.3 10.3 0.3 0.3 2.7

Simply put, he is the best center in the league today. Look at his 54 percent field goal percentage and 85 percent mark from the charity stripe. He is scary good.

    ----

This is basically a list of the best players at each position and of course they change each week. I like what they wrote about Yao, but look at the answers numbers, they're crazy. Anyway, if you click the link at the very bottom of the page there is a list of the best players at each position for the whole season so far.

Since MJ, AI has been the best guard of his generation of players.

AI never gets his due, but there is no question in my mind that he's been the best guard in the league for the past decade. A first ballot HOF, and there is no one else in the league I can say that about besides Shaq and Duncan.

How many championships have AI won?

He is a great player, but he isn't a winner. One finals appearance throughout his entire career does not put him in the same class as someone like Jordan.

Considering Iverson's age, it's a marvel that his still able to go the way he does.

Iverson has the worst possible team around him, talented yes, but absolutely no toughness whatsoever. At 6'1, he has more heart and toughness than anybody on that team, he needs to be surrounded by pitbulls and shooters..that 2001 finals team was perfectly built for him.

Yao is just doing what he does, the media no longer has any excuse not to show him the love.

I said of "his" generation, and I never said he was as good as Jordan, no one is.

And being stuck on a horrible team/franchise and still having one finals appearance to your credit without playing with a dominant front line IS an achievement.

"Not a winner" my arse! That's just the garbage that people like to throw around at these guys. No one plays harder or is a tougher player in this league than AI. He's almost 32 and is STILL going strong, still playing the same type of reckless basketball he's been playing his entire career, only getting better with age.

As I said before, the most dominant 6-footer in league history. Even Shaq -- who never gives anyone his due unless he's a teammate -- changes his tone when it comes to AI.

you say it like one player is all it takes to win a championship.

in that finals series, no one expected the sixers to win one game, and yet they surprised everyone on the first game.
