Since about 99% of us are on the Chuck Hayes bandwagon, another thread dedicate to his hard work hopefully isn’t another thread too many. From watching the games, especially Rockets2K’s clips, I’ve noticed that Hayes is very smart on positioning himself on rebounds…especially offensive rebounds. When a rocket begins to make the shooting motion, Hayes would slow down and paces toward the direction of the basket. When a Rocket start to shoot the ball, Hayes would let the opponents front him to save energy. When the ball is about a few feet from the basket, Hayes would accelerate and dart in front of his opponents and reach for the ball. It is a very effective technique because the opponents that front him do not expect him to get in front of them that quick. Now he’d stop wasting energy when he’s certain the ball’s going in and start heading back for defense. He almost always does this when the Rockets are shooting….except for Yao. Don’t get me wrong, he does go for Yao’s missed shots, but in a less frequent manner. When Yao shoots, almost always the other 3 rockets (including T-Mac) just stands on the perimeter waiting to get back to defense (which is a bad habit) but not Chuck Hayes. Like tonight, he got six (6) offensive rebounds...which is equivalent to the Wolves' total offensive rebounds. JHo on the other hand doesn’t utilize this technique as often. He does do it on occasions. I think JVG should raise this issue to JHo because a few offensive rebounds can be a difference maker in a highly competitive game. I’m not sure if this anyone has raised this topic before. If yes, then a mod can lock this. Thanks
you think he'll do good enough for me to pick him up in Fantasy Bball? i'd have to dump Shareef to do it.
From the sound of the original post, it's as if Chuck moves at the speed of light. Oh yeah, don't drop Shareef for Hayes, he might be good for rebounding but nothing else.Intangibles don't do much in Fantasy basketball.
some trouble was to cut the stressure on yao that is neccesary, while u guys ever saw juwan made this for yao? that is the difference. i luv him
i'd easily nominate him as one of the best "chuck"s the Rockets have ever had. 1. Chucky Brown 2. Chuck Hayes 3. Charles "Chuck" Barkley (although almost no one uses it)
His hustle, toughness, defense, and rebounding are all things we look for and need in a pf. He does have a couple weaknesses that if he worked on, he would be the perfect throwback, hardnosed pf the rockets covet. Two things he needs to work on. 1. developed a midrange jumper 2. he needs to work on growing another 4 inches.
Chuck Hayes is like a breath of fresh Air. Fing Juwan, he's so ******* lazy. If Chuck builds up more confidence and stops missing easy layups, we'd definetely be a championship contender imo. Oh man if he developed a mid range jumper.... wow one can only dream.
yeh it's amazing how an undersized PF with no moves at all can not only find a small niche, but actually win us games... basically a mini-Rodman, except Chuck is more willing to score, as he ceaselessly cuts and flashes, or he beats his man down the court in transition. It's the only way he can score, as he had no J... love him
i cant help but wonder how jvg came to the decision to start him this year especially when chucky hardly got any minutes ast year?...maybe outta the crying desperation that he didnt wanna see juwan ruin another season?...lol i mean he must have been pretty desperate...this is a guy who hates rookies...
so far, every game I watched, chuck hayes missed some easy layups i'd wish he practice more on the layups, coz if he does, Tmac would have a new assist record by now dont get me wrong, im not a hayes hater, and i love his rebounding game, but if we go in Western Playoff against team like Mavs or Spurs, u cannot offer to miss any ez layups
