Isn't that basically free market? Why should the government come in zone things? If there are housing available to people at a place they want to live, why shouldn't they have the right to live there?
you're right. this is also right, housing projects = crime/gangs/drugs more housing projects = lower property value = people move plus katrina housing = parents not letting their kids go to Westbury =good teachers not wanting 2 work in a dangerous environment
we can build a giant wall around the housing projects 500 feet tall so they can't escape. LOL edit: AND! we can employ those living in the housing projects to build it. We can get those off welfare, decrease unemployment, and build a wall to fence them in! I'm putting out fires all over now.
So should the government inject itself onto society by: 1) Eliminating or atleast alleviating poverty or 2) Seperating those who were improvished from those who are more wealthy
According to most people that live there. According to the Houston Chronicle website, everytime I read it there is a murder or some other violent crime that occurred in SW/Alief area. According to HPD who list that area as the most dangerous part of the city. According to my mother still living there in the Alief area whose house has been burglarized 3 times. Thank God I don't live there, but I always worry about my mother there. That place is evolved into a total sh*%hole. There is no doubt about that.
These are some Ben Franklin gangstas. I've never heard of a drive by shooting at 8:30 AM. Normally these gangtas are rolling out bed around 11 AM. Woke up quick at about noon, just knew I had to be in Compton soon- right?
I think for me the same reason why I wouldnt want some Drug Dealer or Gang Member living right next to me or right across the street..... But hey that is just me
I grew up in Fondren Southwest. The neigboorhoods are still pretty nice...but the outsides and apartments are horrible. The houses are also so cheap because of the area. I used to walk in that neighborhood and go to the Plitt Cinema that was near West Bellfort and Fondren.....and I'm Jewish and White. Today???? Not gonna happen!! It's a shame....that is why I live in First Colony in Sugar Land now. MUCH NICER!!!!!
i remember that cinema place. i noticed that the neighborhood was getting worse when some friends and i were walking back from the Plitt and some housing project kids were chasing him for his jordan shoes! Im all for helping the poor, but putting housing projects in nice neighborhoods is not a great idea.
The first place that my wife and I lived at was a townhouse across from Westbury Mall. It looked so nice on that sunny Sunday afternoon. I'm a sound sleeper but I woke up at least twice a week to multiple gun shots - sometimes submachine guns. But many other things happened: One time we hit the floor because someone was shooting a rather large handgun right outside the downstairs window. I had my car vandelized twice. One a Saturday afternoon at the pool, we witness a woman unload her pistol into her boyfriend who was trying to drive away. I witnessed police chases on foot throughout the complex. And this is in a 11 month span in 1990. That place might have been nice in the 60s but I wouldn't live there now if I had a choice.
