That franchise was ruined the day Micheal Williams shattered his ankle a minute into the first game of the season.
i ma kg supporter.. don't forget kg won the mvp that year and led wolves to wcf, lost 4-2. both cassell and troy hudson were injuried during that series.. imagine your starting and backup pg 6th man was injuried.. cassell made the all star team that year for the first time in his career partly because of kg's brilliance. i agree kg maynot seem like a dominant player sometimes because he doesn't attack the paint alot with his size, but if u change dirk with kg, mavs probably beat the heat last june.
KG is a bad fit for this team. He cant shoot 3pt and spread the space for Yao. He wont do a lot of dirty job for Yao and will take a lot of inside space. If Alexander is willing to spend some money, PG will be the priority.
Kg is everything this team dreams of having at PF. He can make jumpers from anywhere inside the arc, post most of the NBA up, top tier defender, rebounds like a madman, pass like a PG, and block shots to boot. I would trade T-Mac for him, but mostly because T-Mac is risky business right now, which is exactly why they wouldn't do it. I would like to get my hands on Troy Hudson and Mark Madsen for Juwan Howard. Would balance our team out nicely with a spark off the bench at PG who's a great 3pt shooter. Wolves save some good money. I'd rather spend the same money on a backup PG than Juwan Howard. Madsen would never see the floor, but decent insurance and experience at the 4/5. It could be the depth/balance we need to start competing with San Antonio.
If you consider who has been built around KG, Wally Szerbiak, Donyell Marshall, Joe Smith, Troy Hudson, Rasho Nesterivic and now Ricky Davis you can kinda understand why the T-Wolves haven't been a premier team. They've only had a few years when the personel looked like they fit really well and that was the WC championship run before Sprewell decided $10 mil. wasn't enough to feed his family and in the late 90's when things looked promissing with Marbury and Gugliata. That was before Marbury decided "And 1" meant only one star when Stephon is around and Gugliata realized he hated Minnesota.
Since Tracy has become such a great playmaker he has taken on an even lager role of significance than just being a shooter, so much so that he and Yao Ming are more compatible than ever before. If Tracy regains his zest for the game this new role might become like a second career in basketball. Cisco and Pancho
I don't understand the obsession with M. James. We already have combo guards in Head and Vspan, play maker in T-Mac and an OK pg in Alston. What do we need MJ for?? Just ship Juwan and Padget for anything and I'll be happy.
im in san diego and a huge charger fan.. . im as happy as can be now with the chargers and rockets both playing well.. and its about time that both of these teams get some recognition. .LT is one of the best Runnign Backs in history but because he is on a chargers team that has been mediocore he never got the credit he was due.. kinda like yao.. anyways LT RULES! ok kinda off topic sorry
I don't know why the Mike James trade talks are still around... remember the words he had for the Rockets the night he signed to Minnesota? I doubt either party is interested. But I agree that a KG trade is unlikely... though I'd love for it to happen.
I wonder how people would feel if we offered up Novack and VSPAN? Anyway, it's not going to happen. Yao is untouchable. T-mac will never attract enough value because of his back and the fact he's already 10 years in the league, and talks about retirement at the end of his contract. Anyway, I don't see KG being the right fit. We're stacked at the 3, and KG isn't brutal enough to play the 4. We already have a finesse player in Yao... We need a power, thugish 4 to do the dirty work. If we were to move T-mac and probably one or other two players, I just don't see the improvement.... Finally - Tmac and Yao have been player together for a while - that familiarity is worth something which will pay dividends the longer they play together. Better to focus on getting another 4 who can play the 5 and back up Yao...maybe allow us to play a different brand of ball as well - shift in tempo. Personally, I would look for a way to package Bonzi, Howard, and Alston for a someone who can play the 4/5. Maybe a nazr mohammed type of player. I think Luther Head can be our starting pg, and Alston has been completely unimpressive with his penetration so we're not losing much there.
I would trade the "old 27" Tmac plus Juwan for KG in a minute. Of course, Minnesota would not take that deal, TMac's back and contract are too much of a question mark.
