This thread is at the same time a request for feedback, a shameless attempt to promote our new website - beatYa.com - a little bit and also sort of a tip jar challenge.

(Just as a disclaimer, I asked Clutch if I could post this and even before I mentioned the tip jar, he was kind enough to allow me to post this thread :)).

Well, I started a new business together with a few friends - we offer a community site with legal casual games of skill online. You always play against other real people, not against a computer. Registration is free and you are not hassled to pay in real money if you don't want to. You get 20 "Euro" fun money if you do not want to make a deposit and play for real money, but many people say that they prefer the added thrill of playing for money, even if it is just a little bit (games can be started from 0.15 Euro cent, so there is no need to play for large amounts of money).

The important distinction here is that the outcome of all games is decided predominantly by skill, not chance. Therefore, participating in these games (and winning money by playing these games) is legal even in jurisdictions where internet gambling is prohibited - because our site is not a gambling website. Therefore, the Unlawful Internet Gambling Prohibition law does not concern our site.

Games offered include Yahtzee, Backgammon, Solitaire, Billard, Mahjong, Sugar (a Bejeweled clone), SudokuBloxx (a mix of Sudoku and Tetris), Skat (most popular German card game) and Blackjack Duel (a form of Blackjack where two people both get the same hand against the dealer who also gets the same hand against each of the two so that skill becomes the predominant factor deciding the outcome).

It is possible to chat with other players during the games and in the lobby.

We have had the German version out for three months or so, and some people have been paid out a few thousand Euro just by being really good at certain games (e.g., Yahtzee, which is right now the most popular game we have).

More games will be added on a regular basis, next up is Gin Rummy.

Some of the games are quite addictive; at least they are a good way to kill some time if you are bored at the office or you just want to play and communicate with others (you can also upload a picture of yourself, leave entries in people's guestbooks, etc.).

I'd be thankful for some feedback on the site and the games... feel free to flame, even though I appreciate constructive criticism even more ;). Any suggestions for improvement are welcome. Another thing is, I translated most of the website myself (and I am not a native speaker), so if you spot any errors or mistakes, I'd be thankful for corrections.

Of course, I would be happy if some Clutch BBS members decided to become members at beatya.com as well.

Here's the deal: For every Clutch BBS member who makes a deposit at beatya.com and becomes a money player, I'll put $ 20 into the Clutch BBS tip jar. For me to be able to track from where you registered, please click on the link in this post instead of typing the address in.

Also, if someone from this BBS pays in € 30 or more, I will manually give you € 10 bonus on your account (might take a day).

Thanks and, if you register and play, have fun :).

looks cool - but the operator fees look quite high.

3 euro to cancel an account?
1 euro to get paid out?
12 euros to return a payment?

i don't quite understand all of those - but i am interested in joining...

Oops, we never charged that - we will have to revise the standard terms and conditions - we adapted them from another website  and that was in there. The only thing that might remain is 12 euro for chargebacks (returned payments), because that is the cost we have if someone does a chargeback, so it is probably good to have that in the standard terms and conditions as a bit of a deterrent.

    Thanks OldManBernie and Yonkers :).

Not to derail this thread but this just makes me LOL. Considering how it makes me think of German Scheisse videos. :D
