Havent seen this posted yet so i thought i would do it. Real simple do you think LT is the best rb ever. I think he just might be the best ever i mean he's on pace to break every record for runningbacks and hes still young (26) and has atleast 4 more yrs to play at this level, i havent seen a rb this god since barry sanders and his team was not winning like this. so what do you guys think?
He hasn't played long enough to be considered the best ever. If he remains productive and keeps his athleticism for a long time, the guy is an easy HOFer and then we can talk about being the best ever. But that's getting way ahead of ourselves. RIGHT NOW, he is the best running back in the NFL and has a shot at making the Super Bowl this season.
Nonsense, i thought ESPN said Reggie Bush was going to be the best running back in the NFL as soon as he steps foot on the field.
as 3po says...not yet, way too early jim brown and barry sanders still better to me as of right now, as far as doing it year after year after year
Walter Payton, O.J. Simpson, Barry Sanders and Jim Brown were all better than Tomlinson. It’s hard to judge by stats alone, because it is very easy to get over 1000 yards in a year these days.
LT is TD machine. I am enjoying him on my fantasy team. He single-handily keeps my team in the first place,
He's damn good, but he isn't Barry Sanders or Walter Payton. too many 50 yard games and then boom 4 TDs.
I'm not so sure about that - the others had 50 yard games too. Per game averages: Sanders: 99 yds rushing Tomlinson: 94 Payton: 88 Tomlinson: 31 yds receiving Payton: 24 Sanders: 19 Tomlinson: 1.15 TDs Payton: 0.71 Sanders: 0.66 He's pretty comparable in yardage (more total than either of the others) and by far better in TDs. Payton never had more than 16 TDs in a season. Sanders maxed out at 17 once. Tomlinson's had 17 or more each of the past 4 years (at 22 already this year).
Sanders for me is better based on guys i've watched a lot during my lifetime. I won't comment on others for sure
LT is having one of the best seasons any NFL player has ever played. Too early to say he is the best ever, but if he can keep up this type of production, I wouldn't put anything past it. The guy is unbelievable and at 26, he can have some good years ahead of him.
The guy is good but there have been countless RBs who weren't able to stand the test of time after being called "The Best Ever" early on. Terrell Davis, Gale Sayers to name a few. Priest Holmes was scoring 26 touchdowns a season not too long ago.
I know I am biased being a Chargers season ticket holder, but I think he is definitely top 5 right now, and will become #1 if he produces for a few more years. Take the best attributes of the best runners ever and put them together and you get Ladanian. I will also say watching him for the previous 4 years that occasionally LT''s stats do not even do him justice. I've seen games where he only rushed for 50 yds, but he dominated in other areas (throwing TDs, blocking for the QB, drawing 9 men into the box completely opening up the passing game). As an Aggie fan, I also have to hate LT because he is a big reason why we are stuck with Fran right now.
the guy is like a mix of barry sanders and emmitt smith. he's got similar build to both, not as thick as smith, and a little bigger than barry. he's elusive like barry, always making the first man miss, but he is always moving straight ahead like emmitt, that's why he is a touchdown machine.
He's playing as well as anyone I've ever seen. He's like a better version of Marshall Faulk. I don't see any weaknesses with LT.
LT is great, but he has a long way to go to be in the best ever crowd. At least 4-5+ years of super productivity. In my lifetime the most impactfull running back in his prime was Earl Campbell. In his prime he was better than an in his prime Walter Payton, probably my #2 guy. A less agile, less instinctive, version of Earl is doing pretty well these days (Larry Johnson). Barry Sanders is great, but there are a fair share of backs better in what I most want a running back to do, run between the tackles (Earl, Payton, Emmitt, Dickerson, and from what I hear and see on clips Brown, Simpson, etc).
