I'm going to drink beer and watch the Rockets tonight. There is a possibility of me starting a fire in my backyard. Tomorrow I'm going to my Aunts to eat food and nurse hangover. On Sat I'm going to the Autorama then to the Rockets game with my wife's bosses. I think they are are a part of the sit and don't cheer crowd. I'm going to have to "behave" myself there. Happy Thanksgiving, mofos.
Just happy that I'm spending it with my wife and her family, even if I'm still not sure if we'll end up getting a divorce or not.
The only thing worse than waiting for the whistle to blow on Friday afternoon is waiting for it to blow the day before a holliday. Screw you, work. Screw you. I'll be sitting on my mom's couch trying to make out football on her fuzzy antenna reception television or trying to steal internet from an unsecured access point in her neghiborhood that gets a signal in the back corner of her house. Happy Thanksgiving!
I've just received word that the Defense has won a battle in a war against Erin Brockovich and her Plaintiffs lawyers friends. Today, justice was served and as a lawyer, I'm thankful that a judge made a brave ruling. Here's what happened. Good ol Erin rounded up a thousand plaintiffs, 460 of which have cancer, all of which are former students of Beverly Hills High School or former residents of the surrounding area. Erin sued the city, School district, and a bunch of corporate defendants, including oil companies and a company that operated a heating/cooling unit next to the school. She got on TV and radio and claimed that benzene from nearby oil operations and chrome 6 (just like in the movie) from the heating/cooling unit had caused a public health crisis. After years of discovery, they had no evidence to support these wild claims. Benzene levels were basically the same as background in LA. They were just hoping a judge would let them in front of a jury. Today, the judge said no and granted our Defense motion. The judge ruled that Plaintiffs did not have scientific evidence to show a connection between the alleged benzene and chrome 6 exposure and the cancers at issue. the Plaintiffs lawyers won't get in front of the jury. they won't get to cook up a case and cash in on a massive verdict. Today's victory doesn't dispose of all of the 1000 claims, but it's a start. Justice was served. Doesn't always happen in america, but today, in this case, it did.
My family will be going over to my parents and spending it with them as well as my sister's family. Then it is back to work for Friday and Saturday and maybe even Sunday.
Tonight, take more drugs (Sudafed, Nyquil, Advil, Vicks44) to try and lose this G-D cold once and for all. Fall asleep while watching Rockets (because of Nyquil, not JVG's offense ) Thursday, go to sisters, eat turkey, drink Crown Royal, make stupid jokes with the rest of my family. Friday, sleep off hangover, fart a lot, watch UT/AM game, pick up gf at airport, go to her folks house and eat more turkey, drink Miller Lite, back to her place, get laid. That's about it. Happy Thanksgiving everybody!
This is the first time in a long time. A very long time that we are going to somebodys house for Thanksgiving. It makes me sad. Usually, we have a **** load of people come to our house for thanksgiving. Usually immediate family, and some close friends. I think this may be the first time in 13 or 14 years that we are not having a party or get together at my house. We are cooking though still. We are going to my sister's house for Thanksigiving. My mother will cook the turkey though, thank goodness. Her turkey does not suck. I bought boxes of potatos, and potatos au grautin or whatever its called. and a package of stove top stuffing. Yeah. That's about it.
I want some turkey and dressing, I want some candied yams, I want some green bean casserole, I want some peanut butter fudge, I want it all! Bring it on!!!
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving...Most importantly, be safe... oh yeah... Turkey: Popeye's Mashed Potatoes, Stuffing and Green Bean and Corn Casserole: Homemade Deserts and rolls: Sam's Club Go Cowboys!!!
i was supposed to go to midtown for a friends birthday but for whatever reason, when i get home to my folks' place, i rarely feel like going out.... at least that first night back home. so, even though it's almost 1am, i'm gonna pour myself a scotch (15 yr balvenie ) and watch this rerun of the rockets game.
