Was the spacing good enough for Yao and T-Mac with
Spanoulis on the floor? I didn't see any 3's in the boxscore.

I really really hope JVD could use more bench players in the coming matches. After all, they need to face 71 matches.

I do think the overuse of staters is the major reason of their injure.

No we can rely on Head and Battier's 3 pointer ability. We need more dribble penitrations, dishes and more defense toughness from VSpan. In the long point of view, once VSpan improves his long range jump shooting and controls his TO's, he'll be recognized more valuable a player than Rafer.

I can definitely see V-span playing in the 2nd unit with Head and not in the first unit with Chuck Hayes. Chuck Hayes and V-span would be the all energy tandem, but not provide enough 3-pt shooting on the court. V-span is better with Padgett, Head and Hayes to take the open 3 from the sound of it.

Vspan would be great against penetration guards

however he would be pretty useless against shooters who would just shoot in his face becasue he doesnt have the length

That's a first... wishing injury on your own player.

Spacing was good through-out the game. Spanoulis did seem to stand a bit on offense when the ball was swung to the opposite-side though...not sure if that was by design or what - he did look a bit unsure of himself without the ball on offense. But again, it's probably his most significant and meaningful minutes in his NBA career - so we can all look past that.

He's learned nothing. It took an injury plagued season for him to give big minutes to Head. He loves a set rotation and will only bend with injuries....

I didn't think he was so much "unsure of himself" as he was tentative. JVG has been so critical of him and pulled him so quickly after mistakes that maybe he was afraid of making any mistakes. Now, with JVG as coach, to get minutes, VSpan has to tone down his game...result tentativeness.

To me, I see VSpan's game as developing into a Sura type player... a lot of heart, guts and willingness to take chances. So, okay, for now, if it means fewer turnovers and therefore more playing time, then so be it. Maybe he can find that balance between the need for consistency and control and his natural aggressive, passionate style.

We need him for the next game and take a couple of charges from Arenas.

Sura had ton of tripple doulbes and can shoot. The only things Billy resemles Sura is the scrappy play style and skin color.

Did I not say "developing into?". Future tense.

And "skin color" is totally irrelevant.

Exactly, what I have noticed so far from Span is that in nearly all cases, whenever he penetrates, we have at least two points more: he either makes a successfull drive or he opens space for the frontcourt for an easy follow. And this is exactly the last puzzle piece which I missed from Rockets game!

??? He is 6'5. I think this is a pretty good height for a playmaker!

    He's about 6'3", maybe 6'3.5".

He is listed as 6'4", and I'll say, MAYBE, maybe he stands that tall in shoes.

Correct me, if I am wrong:

In Europe he is listed as 1,93 m. This corresponds to 6,4.

In the NBA players are normally measured with shoes. So I guess his "NBA-height" is at least 6,5.

you guys are dogging too much on JVG for playing span because synder was out. I wonder if any of you who said this actually watched the game.

synder out, we still got head, and tmac at the 2, and alston at pg.

Jvg placed JVg due to recent 4th quarter breakdown of the rox, specially when the opponent guards breaking us down from the outside. JVG needed span defense at the primeter. synder D, or head's D just didn't cut it for us. not to mention alston totally too weak to match up bigger guards like marbury or francis.

synder injury has nothing to do with span PT in this game.

SPan needs to play PG, let Head stay in the corner, or just run around to get space for a open three....Span will find anyone anywhere...

    First 5 should be

    VSpan
    McGrady
    Battier
    Hayes
    Yao
