Minnesota trades: Terrell Brandon $9,250,000 to Golden State

Houston trades: Walt Williams $5,000,000 to Minnesota

Chicago trades: Brad Miller $4,400,000 to Golden State (plus Trade Kicker $690,000)
Chicago trades: Marcus Fizer $2,754,120 to Minnesota
    TOTAL: $7,154,120

    TRADE ACCEPTED

    WHY FOR THE BULLS

Miller for Avery + Garrett - both of whom we would have the opportunity of cutting in the offseason - Garrett definately but Will also if he doesnt shape as a 2nd /3rd string next year and beyond + point guard reserve is obviously a need for us to fill this season. If we however we dump Avery and Garrett at seasons end we effectively get Miller's salary back a year early

    Fizer for Wally

Not too much more to say for us except that Fizer and Miller allow Chandler and Curry play more and develop quicker but with vets to fall back on and toughen them up in Oakley and Garrett - both of whom would be off contract at seasons end ( although I would like to see oak with another year )

    WHY IT WORKS FOR HOUSTON

Walt is a shooter and now surplus with Rice who they would be unlikely to get compensation for next season. There is an opening for a slashing/scorer role in the wake of Shandon Anderson leaving and Houston need to fortify their back court - enter backcourt veteran reserve in Anthony Peeler. Houston also take Tom Hammonds contract off Minnesota- who retires .

So effectively it is Walt for Peeler - two vets who just provide different things. Peeler can shoot some ( streaky ) and slash whereas Walt just shoots ( 40% 3 point shooter )

    WHY IT WORKS FOR MINNESOTA

They get rid of people the do not want in Garrett , Hammonds , Avery and send out Brandon, Wally , Peeler and Lopez but get back

    1. Two young stars on the way up in Fizer and Hughes who can benefit and develop playing alongside KG and these 3 will ultimately be the 3 prongs of the attack

2.A mature point who can score some but does not need to be dominant in this regard but will still dish out 8 assists a game.

    3. A vet sharpshooter in Walt Williams who can hot at 40% from 3 - something no one else on the Wolves roster can do

    4. The underperforming Damp at Center , who whilst an underachiever still out performs Deano and provides a bigger stronger body to lend a hand on D and on the boards.

OK , so Damp may make Wolves fans frown a bit but you have 2 stars on the rise in Larry and Marcus to be Robin and Maurice to KG's Barry ( I'm talking the Bee Gees Stayin Alive yo ? - Stayin Alive past the 1st round at least ) But dig it Wolves fans , Waly and Mooks are on the last year of their contracts which carves off $10.4M combined at seasons end. Still want Fizer and Mercer ?

WHY IT WORKS FOR THE WARRIORS

Its simple , their is no strong leader on your team and Larry will not be the man off his own accord. Under KG and Flip he may actually benefit and become a star. On his current path - my bet is he won't and JRich is a better option at the 2 and the forward line is better structured with Jamison and Murphy.

Larry as a point is a disaster waiting to happen.

Larry , Mooks and Damp all shoot under 40% - in Minny ,Damp will not be required to take as many shots , nor will Mooks who would run the offense and distribute. Larry , I suspect with benefit from KG on the court and Flip guiding him better . He would be an environment where his doesnt have to be "the man" At the moment he does not have that capability and may never have it on his current path. Antawn is just starting to find his own game to worry about the likes of Larry.

Anyway , Miller , Brandon and Lopez are all 43% - 45% FG converters.

Miller has greater productivity than Damp - is a legit 7 footer in the West, gives you more immediate CAP relief than what Damp will and with Damp's contract gone , enables the Warriors to go forward with confidence in resigning Marc Jackson to work the center rotation with Brad Miller and Adonal Foyle.

Hughes's point production is nominally , on a direct comparative basis made up with the acquistion of Brandon , BUT with the addition of JRich , the underrated Murphy and Gilbert Arenas they have a greater number of offensive guns than what they had last season .

Brandon is also an upgrade from Mookie at point - is a couple of years younger than Mooks and dropped around 8 dimes a game last season and historically had high assist numbers. Everyone talks about Brandon always being injured but he actually played every game last season while Mookie missed over 30 games - but didnt everyone on the Warriors ?

Plus they get energetic swingman reserve in Felipe Lopez who was required to be thrown in for CAP.

They subtle key though for the Warriors is that every player that they acquired has fair to good FG conversion capacity which is a big upgrade on those that are exiting . Little things like this make all the difference between going down by 20 points , OR actually being in the game and keeping it close because you can convert. Funny game this getting that damn ball in the basket

    Dimwit.

I don't know which is the most laughable:
    • The rationalization that GS is obligated to give up a "future star" in Hughes because they can't provide the blissfully supportive environment that supposedly exists in Minnesota.
    • The idea that GS should get cap relief by unloading Dampier, only to sabotage it by taking on Brandon's contract (which is even larger and only 1 year shorter).
    • The notion of trading Dampier, who was injured last year, for Miller, who was just as awful despite being healthy.
    • The factual errors, like how many games Mookie missed and the claim that Jamison doesn't care about Hughes (go to http://www.warriors.com and check out the transcript of today's press conference, chump).
Then again, at least your trade isn't as loopy as Rockets fans dreamcasting for Jamison last year. ;) :p

Okay lets put this puppy to bed.

I've been taking some flak on this for so long that I now join others in mild applause for your remote memory. To set it straight (from my end, anyway) .... my original post that a Jamison offer was being tendered was something that I heard from two seperate sources .... one of which I had a some history and rapport.

When I first posted it, the deal itself was apparently in the very early "infant" stage of bargaining or exploration. I believe I went to great lengths to show some restraint ... using phrases like ... "I don't know but ..." ".... I can't get this confirmed ..." etc ..... (not exact quotes)

If the proof in the pudding lies in whether or not this trade was completed or not ... then you may have missed the point of negotiation, offers/counteroffers and the all important "looking at options".

With those same standards of criteria ... possibly the distant and failed trade with Hakeem going to Toronto for Christie, a couple of picks and etc .... was a figment of someone's warped imagination ....

or .. . it could be that we also didn't have the possible opportunity at one point to parlay a deal to not only get Hakeem but also draft Michael Jordan way back when ....

or .... how about that nasty rumor of trading five of our guys ( acouple of which were starters on a championship team) for an aging power forward ... oops that one was done ... ah, nevermind .... too unrealistic ....

(In an print article that was published this past summer, sorry I can't remember what mag it was in .... dang that takes away all credibility right there huh? ..... oh well ..... read and grumble .....
....... Antawn stated he had a good year this season(2000-2001), but the best thing was finally realizing he was wanted and needed on GSW ... that he had heard of some excellent trade proposals from some good teams come to the Warriors front office ... but that he realized he was a leader .... and that he liked playing for the Warriors eventhough they were not a huge success .... yet. He said he would try to stay at GSW despite the opportunities that were coming his way .... )

    Mmmmmmmmmmmm.

PS: Yeah you are wrong again ... it is loppier (loopier?) than the AJ dreamcasting .....

if i remember Jamisons's press conferance correctly,...he even stated that he had friends asking him why he was staying. if they had those conversations....you know their had to be senerios disscussed of which i'm sure we could have been a part of. i for one would have loved to had Antwan here, but it wasn't meant to be........sad but true. thanks for the scoop last year oeilpere.....i for one enjoyed it, i wish it had worked out, but i know that everything that is disscussed behind closed doors does not always make it to the press conferance table. your credibility is still intact with me.........i anxiously await your every post :)
