    • FULL NAME: Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Jean Jacque Wamutombo
    • Born: June 25, 1966, Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo
    • CAREER STATISTICS—Points: 11,365; Rebounds: 11,639; Blocks: 3,154 (third all-time)
    • Number of humanitarian organizations he’s been involved with since his NBA career began: 8 (including CARE, UNICEF, the Special Olympics, Basketball Without Borders, and Mutombo’s own foundation)
    • Polio vaccinations given in Congo since 1999 due in part to Mutombo’s public-service efforts: 8.2 million
    • Money personally contributed to found a state-of-the-art hospital in Congo: $15 million
    • 1997: Creates the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of his countrymen in Congo, where the average life expectancy is 51 years and one in five children don’t see their fifth birthday.
    • 2001: Leads the Philadelphia 76ers to the NBA finals. Later that year in Kinshasa, Mutombo breaks ground on his dream project, a 300-bed hospital named after his mother. The facility will be the first of its kind built in Congo in over forty years.
    • 2001-2006: Redoubles efforts to raise the $29 million needed to fund the construction of the hospital.
    • 2007: Biamba Marie Mutombo Hospital opens.

    If Dikembe is smart, he has his Autofiller turned on when making purchases on internet.

    I would hate to type in that name for credit card info over and over again....

    dik = CLASS ACT. i just love that guy and what he represents. i wish all the young kids coming into the league would learn a thing or two from him and not just see him as a finger-wagging has-been. i don't think many realize how much he's done for society during his time as a pro athlete.

    Definitely a class act, has given away more of his money than any NBA player ever to philanthropic causes. I am glad he's a Rocket and the dude can still play, I wish he's with us for a couple of more years.

    Very nice, and he didn't even have to dress metrosexually like Wade and Parker.
