I found a real nice cat yesterday that came up to my apartment meowing and looking for food. The cat does not appear to be an adult cat and is not a kitten...somewhere in between. I let her sleep in my bathroom last night since it was cold outside and I am trying to find her an owner. She is a really clean, lovable cat. I love cats but live in an apartment and it's just not at all convenient for me to have a cat. If I am unable to find a home for her I would like to give her to a no-kill animal shelter but I am just not sure if there is such a thing. I tried emailing Jeff through the board but he is not accepting emails thru the BBS.

Can anyone give me any info that could help me out?

These people run the animal 'give away' place in the PetSmart near my house. They seem to take very good care of the cats that stay at PetsMart, even having 'play time' for them where they let them all out of their cages.

Not trying to start anything, but are there really any pets better suited for apartment life than cats?

I used to volunteer a lot at Special Pals. It was the first no-kill shelter in Houston. I assume that they are still a no-kill shelter -- it doesn't explicitly say so on the website as far as I can tell.

Where did you live countingcrow? Me and my roomates recently lost a cat in the Austin area.

Those are two of the best. If you are already foster caring for the cat, you could go through Houston's Homeless Pet Placement League. They take foster cared animals out to Petco's on the weekends and other places to try and adopt them. You would have to be willing to care for the cat until he/she was adopted.

Also, CAPs (Citizens for Animal Protection) out on I10 has a weekend adoption program similar to what the Pet Placement League does. You take the cat out on Friday evening and pick him/her up on Sunday if she isn't adopted. I've had a lot of success with this in the past.

That's where I got my cats from, the petsmart cat shelter is no kill shelter I think. I should rename one of them to chubby now. ;)
