Ok, some positives from the game.

We are showing a good sign of a team, playing in and out game patiently. I've noticed this trend. We have some tenacity too to hang around when shots are not going our way in the first half.

Of course the problem is poise in the 4th. We had one good 4th qtr game, that was against the Hear, which is metaly derailed of course. So we are pretty low in that regard in the league

Yao has been going to the bench with about 4 minutes left in the third most of the season. You know this. The reason he played the entire third quarter this time was purely because McGrady was on the bench with foul trouble, and JVG didn't want him picking up a 5th foul before the fourth quarter.

from what I saw, Rockets were not running offense around Yao at all during the period Pistons built a 10+ pt lead. They simply don't know how to run offense against the zone defense of Pistons. If anybody could make some perimeter shot, it would be a completely different story.

So what you are saying is...

    this is all we have???

    Yao and TMAC??

Seems like someone is not managing the team properly.

He should have gone to bench more while giving yao some rest in 3rd too.

Then Yao AND tmac would have been fresh for the 4th quarter run.

Playing Yao pretty much the whole 3rd quarter pretty much guarantees and clumsy yao in the 4th.

Pretty much. Would would you put on the court together in the 3rd quarter, knowing that we've been sucking horribly at the end of the 3rd quarter and into the fourth quarter the last two games? It would need to be a team that takes care of the ball, plays good defense, and creates good shots. Well?

a game like tonight is bound to happen when our role players are not making outside shots and and opp. exploit on our weak pick n roll defense.

JVG will make adjustments, mark my word. :D :D

Have you ever thought they he might have run out of gas in the 4th quarter, after carried the team almost the whole 3rd quarter? 1-4? Have you ever wondered why he only had 4 shots in the last quarter? Pistons have 4 quality big men, and Yao put 4 fouls on every single one of them, have you ever thought that might have taken some energy from him?

I am enough with those bull crap about scoring when it counts. The 2 points in the first minutes weighes exact the same value 2 points in the last second.

Yes, you are nitpicking. Nobody has ever played a perfect game in NBA history, including Wilt's 100 points game. 8 turnovers is certainly very high, but that's far from the main problem in this loss. Peremieter defense and peremieter offense were huge problems, and lacking of defensive and offensive support from our powerless forwards like JH is huge problem, not Yao's 1-4 in the fourth.

Agree, I was just using the other guy's word. I do think Utah played great team bb so far. They will definitely make the postseason if no major injuries occur. Plus, they have a muuuuuuuuuuuuuch better coach. I am very tired of a hopeless 4th quarter JVG, but hey, what can I do about it...

A different lineup perhaps. Once that has never been tried. Give some new faces some minutes? Novak, VSpan? Put shooters and penetrators??

I mean seriously, could those *rookies* have done any worse than what the veteran role players were doing?

I am still waiting for JVG to improvise.

perimeter shot at that time is why Rockets get wrong.

The drive, FTs and flop are what they needed. VSpan is really good at doing those.

Thank you for pointing this out, the only time the game went through Yao was in the third period.

How the hell did Yao kill the game ?!?!

There were two freak'ing meaningful possesions run for Yao in the entire 4th Q. One time he got stolen by Murray for a fast break. The other time he got blocked then got it back and traveled. That's it !!!!

Most of the time it's Head and T-Mac dribbling the ball and can't do jack with it !!!!!!!

I missed the game, but how in the world did we expect to win if we were playing 2 on 5 the whole game? (according to the box score, Yao and Tracy were the only ones doing anything :/). Wasn't this the year when the role players stepped up? That we would have a bench? That we would have shooters? I mean srsly, wtf happened?! :/

Kill the game? I knew you're triyin to bash Yao for any occasion but I never thought you're such a non-sense biased YOH. OPen your eyes and be realistic! Just read the GAME without any bias!

He can't and it won't happen, not for 82 games, not if you want him to remain somewhat 'fresh' come playoff time; same goes for Yao.

This is why depth, and not just any depth, but quality depth is so important in today's NBA. How many teams, even bad ones, have a solid 10-man rotation that can be used throughout the season, and then they shorten their rotations once/if they make the playoffs?

Sorry, can't blame the two stars here, and can't blame McGrady for not forcing the issue when Rip was in his grill and he was getting double-teamed by another guy, forcing the ball out of his hand.

If he shoots the ball regardless and forces the action, he's called "selfish" and "MeMac"; when he tries to play smart and include his teammates, he's called "passive" and lacking a "killer instinct".

The guy can't win with some of you guys, so continue to believe what you want to believe.

Same thing with Yao, he dominates the interior for most of the game and he's called "unreliable" for not forcing the issue down low, which no doubt would have led to fouls called against him, not for him. He was already getting hacked and hammered and no calls were given to him in the 3rd and fourth.

The refs let the game get very physical in the 4th and they plain and simple turned the clock back to ten years ago when hand-checking was allowed and let Rip get all over T-Mac with his hands/arms and everything else.

We're a mentally weak team as a whole, that's our biggest weakness and that's why we're collapsing under pressure.
