Here's my room. You can't see the book self on the far end of the room by the window in the pics. I'm sure I'd have to move stuff around in my room. My old tv would obviously be out. I defintly would move the book self out of my room, because I'm not a big reader and I could move the computer desk out've my room, because i dont use my desktop anymore.

I would be willing to move anything else around in order for it to fit. Do you guys think it's too big for my room anyways? Or could I make it work?

    3 things...

    - Impossible is nothing.
    - It will fit on the ceiling or on top of your bed.
    - What is a book self?

Barely, but DLPs aren't intended for you to watch them that close.

Then again, you won't find out until you try it...

If you go ahead with it, I suggest ditching the monitor and hooking the computer up to the tv. Find a wireless keyboard and mouse and you're set.

Buy a tape measure and throw us some room measurements. That looks cramped as hell. From the looks of it, there'd be no way I'd do it, but...

I don't know how much heat is generated by that tv, but consider your summer ac requirements while you're at it if you're in the Houston area... :D

Get a 42" flatscreen, and stick the sucker on the wall. Or the ceiling. With a video camera, the possiblities are endless! ;)

    1) Get rid of TV and stand
    2) Move Dresser to where TV was (if it doesn't fit there but it in front of your window)
    3) Move Desk to where Dresser Was
    4) Move Bed to the other side and make it vertical ie not against the wall

This should free up that entire wall for your 51''

how far back will you be while watching? it probably will fit, but the picture will look horrible if you're watching it from up close. you gotta be at least 10 feet back

    Screen size and viewing distance

    30"-6.25 feet
    35"-7.3 feet
    40"-8.3 feet
    45"-9.4 feet
    50"-10.4 feet
    55"-11.5 feet
    60"-12.5 feet
    65"-13.5 feet

Sitting too far away from a small- or medium-sized screen pretty much lowers the overall impact. at the same time, if you sit too close to a large screen, you're likely to be distracted by the screen's structure (its pixels and scan lines)

go for what fits your room. you'll enjoy a 32'' more than a 50

If he sits on his bed and watches it, he'll be fine. That's definitely more than 10 ft. But I agree 32'' or 37'' is more feasible.

Is that a dorm room? Here's a clue. Get a living room first, then worry about a new TV.
