no, webbe is too old and his contract is too huge for us,
but i really like the idea of pack j-ho and bonzi together
to get a decent 4/5 chunk-like player, but with a bigger
size than chunk. First, we can get rid of j-ho's contract,
he is not playing much anyway, and the other team would
consider about it because they got bonzi for a very cheap
    price.

it's not that he was unmotivated. it's because he had a very low bball IQ. he was a bad shooter, had no post game, and couldn't grab rebounds. hayes is so much better.

The trade for Rashard Lewis would have to be some form of other assets besides Howard. We would have to provide them salary relief in the form of Bonzi and Sura's contract to get them to take Howard and then we would have to take back Earl Watson along with Rashard and we'd probably have to throw them either our draft pick or possibly Luther Head as well. Would you do that just to have Rashard alongside 111Bat??

I don't know if I would do it or not. Can Rashard defend the 3/4 well enough?

I say package up Bonzi and Kirk Snyder and send them to Toronto for Mo Pete. Nice clean deal. You can extend Mo Pete and free up your MLE to re-sign Hayes and somebody else next offseason and you've got your starting 2 guard solved with Mo Pete for the next 5 years, if you get him to ink and extension.

Or.....you guys that want a banger.....send Bonzi to Denver for Reggie Evans. Denver wants/needs more help scoring wise. Looks like Reggie isn't going to get many minutes. Him and Najera duplicate one another and he is owed more years. You use the TE to complete that deal.

On a lark, what if we could get Maggette for Bonzi, Sura's contract, and our draft choice? You know Denver is baiting the Clippers with Joe Smith's expiring deal, so if the Clips want to dump Maggette, they can always do that deal. But they may be more enticed by having Rentabonzi for half a season and the playoff run and if we threw in our pick, they would obviously prefer that to Joe Smith. Denver would then be forced to offer up their draft pick to beat that deal and they probably wouldn't want to do that since their pick is likely to be much higher in the draft than ours.

We really need Sura to give it up. I'm sorry, I love the guy, but I see no way that he can come back and be effective. And him coming back just to do a Barkley and get a rah rah from the crowd just isn't worth it. We need him to retire so we can use his contract for trades. If we have his contract to trade it is essentially the same thing as using the TE and being able to attach the TE to a player's contract because his expiring contract can be attached to another player's deal. It would allow us to bring a single player with a contract in excess of $7 million. I still like Maggette a lot here. No, he isn't an outside shooter, neither is Bonzi. But he does get to the rim (like Bonzi) and he does pile up the fouls against. I think he would be an interesting fit here and would be a 3rd go to player like Bonzi was supposed to be except he's already got his contract and we would save our MLE.

Would NY take Juwan, bonzi, and Sura's contract plus our draft pick in return for Jerome James and either QRich or JCrawford? They get cap relief and a pick. We have to eat James' deal.

Webber needs to realize that he has passed his prime and if he wants to compete for a championship, he needs to accept the limited playing time, shots and touches. Anyways, Webber wants out because of his diminished role on the Sixers, he certainly isn't going to want to take a back seat to both Tracy and Yao.

And he is about as much a Van Gundy-type player as Michael Olowakandi.

Though Rashard has more mobility than CWebb, they are similar type players. Shooters with range. Rashard is more affordable.

    Per Jopatmc:

"Can Rashard defend the 3/4 well enough?"

No Defense in My opinion. His best days are behind him, and his knees are glass.

Webber makes McGrady-type money on a max contract, and still has a few years remaining.

Not exactly the third 'max' guy we're looking for.

In his prime? I would take him in a heartbeat! As is, he's way past his prime and his strengths wouldn't be harnessed the right way in JVG's system.

i like the idea of getting rashard, but our team plays too well with hayes at the 4 to put him back on the bench.

He is making KG like money. he has 2 years remaining on his deal. he could become a real attractive trade carrot next season. his 20 mill expering contract can help any team out.

And Webber could not offer what we need, and he could not compensate for Yao's weakness. :p
