I have no problem with VSPAN getting some playing time, but please stop acting like he is the savior of the Rockets. The man averaged 4.1 turnovers in the preseason and still has a lot to learn about playing in the NBA.

I would love to see him come in for Alston when he is struggling and get some good quality minutes. I have no doubt that he will adapt to the NBA style game, but right now he is not ready for the 30 minute games everyone here thinks he deserves. He played well in the World Championship but that does not make him the Rockets savior.

I love the Rockets and I know I'm going to get bashed for saying these things, but it is the truth. VSPAN will be good but he will need to do so one step at a time.

Rafer looked pretty composed to me. VSpan should start to get some minutes soon. Head is a great bench guy in limited minutes, but I see V getting more of those minutes as the season progresses. ok, we collapsed again. I like Alston shouting at head. we're 6-3 so let's not toss too many stones. more mysterious, Yao, why can't you sustain it a little bit more big guy? His shots looked weak and rushed the last two games. Yes, we need them both!!! Tmac has shown the take over a little bit more, T ...just do it!!!!!

    dear, bonzi, keep peddling.

Like many have said, patience is the keyword here.

V-Span is going to be an asset for us -- possibly even as early as the second half of the season. I can see how he could be a defensive answer to extremely fast shooting guards like Gordon and Iverson. But I cannot fault JVG for not using him last night -- when the other team is making a huge run at you, the last thing you need is to sub in a turnover machine -- for every defensive stop he makes against one guy, he's probably going to end up creating another extra possession for them because of a travelling call or a crazy pass no one was expecting to catch. Not good when you're trying to stop the other guys' momentum.

Spanoulis will come along in time. The season is still young. Regardless of all these kinks we are seeing early, we are doing pretty well with a 6-3 record. This team is still feeling each other out -- T-Mac and Yao haven't really played together for a long time, and we have a lot of new pieces. Chemistry isn't going to develop within one week. Our rookies will need time to get to where they can become truly productive on the court. We will get there, but the fans need to be patient.

Firs of all, let me tell you i have been watching him in the Euroleague and greek league for several years now and I want to state that Spanoulis has much more talent and potential than Alston ever had!
Evaluating him according to 6 pre-saison-games is more than ridiculous. So how did he manage to score 22 points against Team USA? And please don't tell me that this is due to FIBA-rules: Come on! FIBA-rules do not allow a first step before dribbling. So this rule is not in favour of Spanoulis whose quickness and his first step are his major weapons. If Spanoulis can penetrate in a smaller court so well against Hinrich,Paul, he will do even better in a larger (NBA-)court. And he has shown it in preseason.
Open your eyes and check this out:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEpqq6I3WB4

    And now tell me:

    1) Do you know a lot of rookies playing like this in their first NBA games?
    2) Do you know a lot of rookies with so much experience (Junior World Champion, Greek Champ, European Champ, World champpion runner up)?
    3) Is there a better perimeter defender in our team?
    4) Is there a guard with better penetration abilities than him?

And this guy is damned to warm the bench because of some f...ing palming situations in pre -saison? Does JVG thinks he can't dribble?
Spanoulis is a guy for the crunch time because he has experienced a lot of critical situations in narrow win-or-die-games in international tournaments -like last year when Greece beat France although France lead with 7 40 s before the end, in contrast to all the other players in our team!

    You are funny, don't you,

Parker and Span are the respective playmakers of they national teams. When their teams meet, they are direct opponents. THis is what I meant.

Compare it ti Shaq and Yao. When Miami meets Houston and Yao score 35p and gets 15 reb, while his direct opponent scores 10 p and gets 8 reb, can you not say that Yao beat Shaq? Is this so difficult to understand?

Nice video. I don't think there is any way we get through this season with VSpan on the bench. At some point, JVG is gonna stick him in there and then we will have a controversy as to who should be getting the most minutes. The guy flat out has a huge heart and sack if you know what I mean.

Well, you didn't provide any stats.... so concluding that a player on the winning team is better than the opposing player on the losing team is better because their team won ... well... is that really what you want to argue?

damn dude.. this is one hell of a video..I just feel bad that all that talent is not allowed to be developed because it's not given any playing time.. JVG is an idiot..

I am just imagining Spanoulis on Gordon.. omg, I bet u Gordon would've ran to the bench and said to Skiles "pull me out coach".. Vspan would've killed GOrdon.. but no, JVG knows better, Battier would defend Gordon better.. a 6-7 Power Forward is perfect for guarding Gordon.. brilliant!!!

I remember a Clutchfan from Greek helped translate VSpan's blog about his opinion on the first three games in another thread.

I wonder if VSpan has updated his blog and if someone can help translate more.

V-Span needs some court time... JVG should let him play when the lead gets to 20+ atleast then maybe the lead wouldn't get so low after the same guys on the court lose their heads and get too relaxed and start to get to comfortable or wait for the other teams run.. Get novack / vspan on the court they can bring some heart and some points to the floor ..or atleat and most importantly the lead around the same ...

well on this one, I did mean the Literal meaning.. it was what I like to call "hyperbole" .. even though Battier got to guard Gordon for only a couple of plays, I used this example to enhance my JVG dissing..

lol, I sound like a language freak.. :D

I am just so mad that Vspan didn't get any play time to play Gordon..
he didn't get time to play freakin Udrih  who brought the Spurs back..
