I saw this on inside hoops website and not sure what to think of it. It states that the Raptors are thinking about sending Keon Clark and Dell Curry to the Blazers for Bonzi Wells. I would think that if this were true the Rockets would be all over this. I think Dell Curry would be perfect for the Rockets because of his shooting abilities. With the zone defense he could be a great asset. On Keon Clark I like his athleticism, but I hope he not just another Cato. This may have already been posted some where so forgive me.

Why would the Rockets be all over this if the trade is between Portland and Toronto?

And what exactly could the Rockets offer that is the equal of Bonzi Wells?

    DrewP,

Sorry, I didn't clarify. The reason is that if the Raptors are shopping Dell Curry and Keon Clark, we may be able to come up with a deal that the Raptors may like. However, in my opinion we don't have a player that we could trade on the same calibur as Bonzi Wells. It was just fun speculation.

This doesn't necessarily mean that the Raptors are shopping either of those players. If Portland really offered a young stud like Bonzi Wells for them, then of course the Raptors would listen. The Rockets aren't shopping Eddie Griffin, but if (hypothetically) for some reason a team like Miami offered us Alonzo Mourning for him and some other picks/players, then the Rockets would most likely consider trading Griffin at that point, but they wouldn't be shopping him, just listening to an offer they almost can't refuse not to consider. Pretty much any player in the league could probably be had for the right offer, whether they're being shopped or not. However, if we wanted Wells it would take Francis, Mobley or Griffin to get him (No way). Portland seems to be trying to get younger now, and Keon Clark would be a nice addition at a position they only have Sabonis and a bunch of power forwards playing at. They would be trading a better player IMO in Bonzi Wells, but Portland has DA at that position too. As for Toronto they are trading a young center with a lot of potential, but they really don't need Clark right now, as it appears they are trying to contend now with Hakeem and Davis up front. Wells would be a significant upgrade at SG over the former Childs/Williams backcourt.

    C: Olajuwon
    PF: Davis
    SF: Carter
    SG: Wells
    PG: Williams

Toronto would be a VERY serious contender with that lineup.

    C: Clark
    PF: Wallace
    SF: Pippen/Patterson
    SG: Anderson
    PG: Stoudamire

Portland would at least get rid of one of their many G/F stars and get a center which they need. This would also prevent any possibilities of them not being able to resign Wells after this season.

Dell Curry as a Rocket would rock, especially teamed with Glenn Rice.

Bill Worrell commenting on Charlotte shooting the lights out on Houston:

"Rice and Curry aren't tasting good for the Rockets tonight."

    Calvin Murphy:

"Well I didn't ask them to eat it!!"

Keon Clark is proof that if you have flashes of talent in this league, teams will pursue you. I like Keon, he was a great guy and the few times I talked to him in Denver, he was friendly and just a cool guy. However, the man was the most INCONSISTENT basketball player I have ever seen. Granted, some of that is because of Satan, er, Issel, but even with good coaching, he's not dominating. He has arguably the best coach in the NBA up there, and he's still not doing as much as he shoould be.

So all that leads me to one question, why are Rockets fans so enamored with Clark? Is it the potential? I mean, you guys complain about Cato, but Clark would be the exact same thing, except he's SOFTER than Cato (don't laugh, it's true).

Also, SteveFrancis3, Clark isn't a center. Don't listen to what people say. He's 220 lbs. tops. He's skinnier than a pole. He's a power forward or a small forward. And both of those are questionable to tell you the truth.

Please, do not mention the name 'Steve Francis' again with association to the word 'trade' unless you're going to include the names 'Duncan', 'Kobe', 'Shaq', etc... Bonzi Wells would be an insult.

Oh, and as an afterthought, we're not going to get Clark. No way, no how (nothing of equal value to trade for him). And Dell Curry will only come if there is a conspiracy to make us even younger.

I must be missing something here. We trade Hakeem to Toronto. You would have to think if Toronto was serious about moving Curry and/or Keon Clark that they would have tried to parlay the Hakeem deal to include Hakeem and anyone else they thought would compliment their team .... at that time.

    1. If there was no one Toronto wanted from Houston a couple of weeks a go, what has changed since, that would make them deal now?

    2. If there was no one Houston wanted from Toronto a couple of weeks a go, what has changed since, that would make them deal now?

    3. If both or either team wanted a player and the other team simply would not deal him, what has changed om either team, that would make it possible today?

    4. As someone else pointed out ... Bonzi Wells is a real talent. He has more moves and game than Ex-Lax and Atari. What would anyone here expect to use to get him? It would not be unreasonable to have them demand Mobes, etc .... . If that is a no-go and everyone knows it, why are we even discussing it?

    5. We don't really need Curry. Not unless we unload some others to make room. If that happened it would be a wash.

Pere, point well-taken. But, you were begging for someone to point this out with that question: since the Olajuwon trade, the Rockets killed their cap space. It is possible that a trade option existed that would have been desireable if the Rockets weren't trying to preserve cap space, and that now the space is gone, it doesn't matter. It's possible -- but, more than likely, the 2 teams weren't interested in trading.

Isn't Dell Curry that old fellow that used to play with the Bucks?..the player who used to hit all the 3s against us?

Curry and Clark are both scrubbs. I would've rather kept Bullard if we do that.

I never mentioned the Rockets trading Franics for Wells...I said if the Rockets were to try and trade for Wells the Blazers would WANT Francis, Mobley or Griffin in return.

If the Rockets wanted Clark we could've got him in the Hakeem situation. I think if we wanted Clark, we would've traded Hakeem and a pick for Clark instead of getting the 2 draft picks. what do ya think?

If we were going to get Clark and Curry it would of already happened with the Dream trade. I would not want Curry but Clark would be a good fit for this team.

You would rather Bullard over Keon Clark?????? If Clark gets the P.T. he can become another Theo Ratliff.
