Yao'll never be afraid to face challenge just as he was in CBA. At the same time, he keeps on improving himself. I think his major problem lies in the mental. When he fails several shoots in a row, he lose himself, give him a break, this can be solved. Do you know what he did in CBA when he shoot 23 out of 23 attempts in the final.

Yao is just tired. This happens to any player and no one can play with full strength every night. Check out the opponents Yao faced recently: Shaq, TD and Big Ben. Any player fighting with these big guys within a short span will be tired. Actually, Yao performs pretty well. He is still the guy that we can count on. When he gets some rest, the dominant Yao will be back.

I am happy that Tracy is doing well, but he still needs to find the killer feeling.

Yao has not been as agressive the last two games. He seems to be playing further from the basket. On the defensive side he hasn't aggressively gone after the ball for the block as much.

Dominant is one of those words that everybody says while not knowing what it means. Dominance isn't defined by actions so much as your psychological relationship with everybody else in a situation (in this situation, the court). Since Yao doesn't stare people down, bark orders at his teammates, and get in alpha dog displays with opponents, people look at him as submissive and weak.

However, in the NBA, it's not about being dominant, it's about winning ball games. A team like the Spurs isn't dominant psychologically, but grinds the wins out. Since they win a lot, people call them dominant... however their demeanor suggests otherwise.

Just remember that dominance has nothing to do with efficiency or wins. Kobe has a dominant personality, and Lamar is submissive to him, but if Lamar scores 30 submissive points while Kobe scores 16 dominant points, does it really matter?

Glad you dug up the stats but using per game stats is really misleading. Here's a breakdown that tells the picture much more clearly.

    Shaq 06 ECF Avg:
    FG%: 65.5 TS%: 69.9 ORtg: 115.0

    Yao 11-16-06 vs CHI:
    FG%: 36.8 TS%: 49.2 ORtg: 103.6

    Yao 0607 Avg:
    FG%: 53.2 TS%: 66.3 ORtg: 124.9

Keep in mind that ORtg league avg is ~104-107.

Judging by the one game clearly Yao needs a lot of improvement in beating Ben Wallace and whatever defense CHI is putting up against him. I want to see Yao put up Shaq-like numbers on Ben Wallace. Yeah, it's one game and if I plot the ORtg for Shaq for last year's ECF He had two sup-par games from an ORtg standpoint but he still avg 115.

While pest_ctrl did not agree with my opinion about yao and he debated with me by some logic, all you did was personal attack. It just show how childish and classless you are!

Duncan cant stop yao. Remember last year and the year before?

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/m/mingya01_2006.html

    Last year Yao against spurs:
    19/ 7 rebounds 8/17 shooting 3/5 free throw shooting 2005-11-17
    25 / 10 rebounds 3 blocks shooting 9/19 7/7 free throws 2006-03-12
    20 / 10 rebounds 7/14 shooting 6/7 free throws 2006-03-18

remember he only played with t-mac in one guy vs them if im not sure.
    Average:
    21,3 ppg , 9 rebounds, 48,14% shooting, 82% free throw shooting.
I wouldnt say thats bad considering his first game against them he played bad.

    The year before:
    27 points / 10 rebounds , 9/15fg , 9/10 ft% 2004-12-09
    13 points / 8 rebounds , 4/8 fg,. 5/6 ft 2005-01-15
    20 points / 4 rebounds , 9/13 fg, 2/5 ft 2005-02-23
    18 points / 6 rebounsd , 6/14 fg, 6/6 ft 2005-03-27

    19,5 points, 7 rebounds, 55% shooting, 0,78%

So i would say we shouldnt worry, hes shooting good agaisnt Spurs, its around 50% which is acceptable.

yeah thats it, the coach belittles his players, you used to post meaningful stuff but now your just annoying as hell....

maybe the fact that both the spurs players and the bulls players were smacking him and pushing him without any fouls has something to do with it. just maybe...
