How is JVG supposed to explain tell guys like V-Span and Novak that they'll only make the rotation by busting their asses in practice if he lets a guy that doesn't bother to show up for preseason games or even travel with the team on a road trip play ahead of them? What kind of message is that?

Easy. Bonzi is a veteran and has proven he can play in the nba already. Vspan and Novak are rookies and JVG hates rookies, so there would be no explanation needed.

This is not an in shape issue. Bonzi is not much more out of shape than he was in the playoffs last year. This has Bonzi vs Van Gundy written all over it. Bonzi was JVG's idea because he had no faith in Head, Snyder and Vspan. He knew he was in a win now or go home year. He saw Bonzi as a great improvement over the other options and started salivating disregarding the chemistry point of view. JVG went to management to beg for the deal.

CD made it happen and then came the real Bonzi. The Bonzi who is not going to succumbed to discipline. As talented as Bonzi is he is also a head case. Battier the nicest guy in the world even inferred that Bonzi needed the right frame of mind to work out for us. Well Bonzi doesn't have the right frame of mind. He is bitter that Sac didn't offer him more. He is pissed that after a stellar playoff performance he is playing for peanuts on the dollar of what he deserves. He feels the Rockets got the steal of the century and he doesn't have to give a 100% at those prices.

Bonzi was Van Gundy's guy all along. Van Gundy begged for him, talked good about him accepted his preseason lack of effort and even was ready to allow him to work himself back into shape. But then Bonzi continued to show no effort in practice and no real desire to do more than what he had too. He also quickly grew tired of Van Gundy. And the rumors are Bonzi and Van Gundy had it out one day not so long ago. So now Bonzi is in the doghouse ala Mo Taylor hating the reality of playing for a hardheaded coach. And Jeffy is hating having a attitude problem on the team. So unless Jeffy is desperate for a victory aand he thinks Bonzi can help or Bonzi's agent convinces him that he is destroying his career if he doesn't change his attitude, Bonzi may never play another game for the Rockets.

I think JVG should be fired on the spot if he really is putting his personal feelings above winning.

How so? Didn't JVG effectively suspend him for not wanting to go to Dallas? How is that accepting a lack of effort?

    C.HAYES: MVP OF THE rockets.
WHEN rox win THE championship this year, and when YAO SCORES > 30 per game this year, and become a MVP OF THE YEAR, he must remember his most important teammates: T-mc and C.HAYES. CAUSE WITHOUT THEM, yao is just a s***.
CHUCK HAYES + YAO----> YAO SCORES > 30 AT least
    ....+ YAO -----> yao scores > 20
conclusion: C. HAYES is the yao's motivation, cause he's fast, and he's Yao's shadow, he gives yao the courage and confidence, he gives the ball to yao and put Yao to score like a machine.
Without HAYES, Rox lost his superpower, and become a soft team...
So come back Hayes, you are the MVP OF THE ROCKETS, and YAO needs you to become a superstar, you motive him like a mouse motives a cat, without you, he's just a blind score-machine.

I don't know about your last line there but I, too, was beginning to think there was more to this than his being "out of shape". From his comments after he was signed it was easy to see that he really didn't want to be here and that he was pissed about his agent F'ing up his big payday. It looks really odd that he's not getting a chance to work himself back into shape on the court. It's a shame because as a player, he's exactly what they need to take that next step up the ladder.

While this is true...if McGrady was in the exact same situation, JVG would make him play. I say this because in the past JVG has seen his players get hurt in games but ignores them completely. He keeps them in and looks the other way.

There has to be more to story then this injury.

    Ok, question now is:

How soon can we trade this guy?

When is the earliest we can move his fat ass to Atlanta or Boston or some other permanent loser-town?

yeah I'm sad that we aren't able to even play him. he played for what? 2 games or just one. it's disappointing because we could have kept azibuke instead of bonzi. hopefully he starts to get into the rotation, if i don't see him in before the years over I'm going to call shenanigans on the rockets organization.

This is based on a "rumor". It has not been confirmed or denied. The only comments recently have been that JVG actually rushed Bonzi back even though he isn't in shape because of his groin injury that he missed games on last year and rested it this preseason. Bonzi apparently admitted that he probably needed more time. It is all here in this article. It seems half of you believe and half don't.

It is under Rockets Notes on the right side.

Here it is if you don't want to click on the link.

    ROCKETS NOTES

    BONZI ON HOLD

Rockets forward Bonzi Wells was on the inactive list Friday for the third consecutive game and could remain there for a while.

Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy , who Oct. 23 guessed Wells would need two to three weeks to be ready to play, would not predict when Wells would be in shape enough to be on the active roster.

"He's just focusing on his conditioning, getting his legs," Van Gundy said. "I rushed him back. That's on me. I shouldn't have. I probably shouldn't have even put a timetable on it. That was probably another mistake.

"I'm going to let it work itself out ... and not put a timetable on it so it's not disappointing or people (ask) what's wrong.

"There's nothing wrong, other than he's got to get in the best possible shape so he can play as well as he can. In putting him out there, I made the wrong decision. I don't know why I did"

Even if he doesn't play for us again this season, you can't get too down on the signing -- we at least kept him out of our competitors hands. If he doesn't want to play nice, let him sit out home. We're doing alright without him (NOTE: Not saying we wouldn't be better with him). Its not like we had to give up anything to get him.

What the hell is wrong with you this crap has been in just about every post i seen

But no one is sure what the situation is with Bonzi but the Rox and players so ill just take it for what it seem to be until something official rather than get excited about random rumors

Jeff I'm glad someone is finally being level-headed, coming up with some good anarchistic proposals and catering to the lowest common denominator in our society. We need to think this through carefully and then do something rash and stupid!!!!! (humor) :D

The next person to see Bonzi at his Krogers - loudly demand an explanation! Bring up the fat chick pics on the bbs in front of Bonzi's lady. Don't forget to have a friend standing by with a video camera - the resulting melee should be hilarious. Make sure your health insurance covers acts of stupidity. :p

There is no need to riot! I made this thread hoping that we could be given some hope regarding one of our players. So many crazy things are being said and or reported about Bonzi that I was hoping that someone like yourself and possibly Clutch might be able to give us fans some solid news and there by clearing up all the mystery that is surrounding his inactivity on the court.
