guyspell said i could come to his house but it's kinda of far. does anybody have dish channel 402, and a subscriber to that channel?
dude, this is going to seriously piss me off! how could this game fall under the "blackout" rules? we're in the freakin' spurs region and the game is in houston!!! every year it's something...
maybe you don't want to, but are you too young for bars? The Tavern is a relatively low key place to watch. Normally you'd probably have to watch the game on a small tv there, but since the Spurs are playing, they'll probably have it on the bigscreen.
I completely agree. I called in about this earlier today (around 2pm) and spoke with a rep on the phone. Apparently I "misunderstand" the NBA territorial restrictions. I doubt it, but here's what was said: thephatp: "Why is the game blacked out." TWC rep: "Because of NBA territorial restrictions for home games." thephatp: "As far as I understand, that should only apply to local games WHEN they are actually broadcast locally. There is no local broadcast." TWC rep: "I'm not sure if anyone is broadcasting the game locally." thephatp: "There have been plenty of other cases where this has not happened. Usually, if a game is planned for ESPN and FSN SW, the ESPN feek will be blacked out, because the game is available through the local market. Otherwise, the game is shown on the nationally televised channel." TWC rep: "I'm sorry. We got an email about 2 hours ago saying that the game would be blacked out. I apologize for the inconvenience."
Bars usually have DirecTV or Dish, not TWC. You could try calling a few of them and checking to see if which one they have and if they plan on showing the game. If it's on one of their channels (especially NBATV), then they should be able to show it.
I only hate SA during this sort of thing. Or when I'm trying to find something there. Get lost all the time, dammit. My wife has a bunch of relatives in SA, so we go frequently, and I always manage at least one wrong turn. It's the old goat trails!! Seriously, this better be on my TV, or T/W will never hear the end of it.
i have TWC and i'm pissed...obviously. a good friend (and member of this board) has grandecom as his cable provider. the game is not listed as "blackout" on his digital guide. do y'all think this is just because grandecom is "low-rent" and doesn't update the guide? or, could they really be smarter than TWC and realize that this game shouldn't be blacked-out "regionally?" freaking out...
Listen, I am on a business trip and I have no way to watch this in my hotel since I only have espn, TNT etc. SO, I am going to Champps Restaurant in Dallas to watch the game. I have it confirmed that they have NBATV and will be showing the game. How about you do the same, go grab a beer, burger and basket of fries and watch the game at a local sports bar. Here: http://www.spring.net/sports/resources/sportsbars.html Good luck, my fellow desperate Rocket fan.
Cohen, there's a nice quality tiny display through windows media player that I got by accident, from clicking on some Chinese I can't read. Still have hope for the game on T/W, though. I hate the idea of sitting in from of my monitor watching tiny BB players running around, so small I can't tell who's who, except for Yao, lol! And the game itself may look terrible, once it comes on, besides being small. And my 42" HDTV is showing Seinfeld reruns... not that there's anything wrong with that!
I was only able to watch CCTV5...it takes a min or two to load up so be patient...I will try NBAtv later when the game starts...hope its gonna come on cuz I rather watch it thru nbatv.
