I'd rather look to New Jersey to make a deal. Think they'd take Juwan and Bonzi for Jason Collins and Eddie House? Collins and Juwan have similar contracts in both size and length, and both Bonzi and House come off the books, so in terms of salary it's pretty much a toss up. New Jersey gets the best player in the deal in Bonzi (who automatically gives them the bench player they've been lacking) and a decent PF in Juwan (a position they've been very lacking in). The Rockets get the consistent, big, and young backup center they need to replace Deke's role either this year or next, as well as an expiring House who is about as far from a pure PG as you can get but will absolutely kill teams if they leave him open anywhere within about 27 feet. As much as I would be for that trade, I'd much rather just have Bonzi get his act together, which I think will happen sooner or later.
Yeap, all season long. Play for us now or never. In any team sports, when a team that is having a winning streak suddenly has a good player coming back after a long lay off, the team tends to be screwed up and their momentum destroyed. Okay don't ask me for proof of that.
We are certainly gaining respect from other fans around the league... Who cares about what those lame asses at ESPN think? No matter how they deny it, the fact is the Rockets have become a dominant force in the NBA
man i didnt know everyone here had given up on bonzi. he hasnt been hurt and just working himself back into shape? or is there some underlying stuff like your saying that he just doesnt give a crap.
Bonzi will be fine. We hold the major cards - it is in his best interest to be "fine in Houston" for at least this season. No need to worry. Anderson and Swift's cases were unique - logically speaking. Bonzi will come back in with a unning start and jump onto the Yao driven train in a matter of days from now (my hunch and 'educated' deduction).
I don't put too much stock in Mavs fans they never seem concerned that Dirk is a wussy in the paint and their owner never seems determined to get a legitimate center. All jump shots and no inside game just like the rest of the league. It seems that its the teams with a center that win it in the end, so whats the reasoning behind this team? PHX wannabe? (Amare=PF in the 90's)
I wonder what those Knicks fans have to say now. They dismissed Yao's performance against Curry, what do they have to say now that Yao dismissed Shaq & Zo?
Check out what the Mavs fans are talking about now...they started a new thread last night after the Miami game called "The Rockets could be scary" well here are SOME of the better quotes: [QUOTE\]I don't think it is a coincidence that the Rockets destroyed Dallas and the Heat... If this team stays healthy and TMac returns to form... this team is scary. In the past, Yao was really only good for the first half. He would be too tired and slow in the second half. Yao is in better shape. He ran Shaq into the ground and he made our centers look really clumsy (and our centers are good defenders). It depends on their health down the road....
[QUOTE\]Yeah, we all know the Rockets are a solid contender this year, we aren't blowing them off. They are contenders, but they have to stay healthy and even if they do I think they are still the 3rd best team in Texas.
[QUOTE\]IF Tmac is healthy they will be elite, if not they will just be good with Yao being a dominating center. I don't think Tmac will stay healthy for the long haul. Just me though, and even if he does he won't have much left in his back for spring in the playoffs and force more and more jumpers.
[QUOTE\]I for one am already more concerned about the Rockets than I am about the Spurs.
[QUOTE\] Let me put it this way. I know exactly what the Spurs are capable of because these are the same Spurs the Mavs beat last year. Okay, so they replaced Nazr Mohammed and Rasho Nesterovic with Fransisco Elson and some other spares. They're no better than they were last year. The Rockets OTOH picked up Shane Battier and Bonzi Wells, and still have this Tracy McGrady character. And of course, the most significant change of all is Yao's evolution. I'm calling it right here, right now. The Rockets are better than the Spurs.
Here is the link: http://www.dallas-mavs.com/vb/showthread.php?t=27523 (I think you have to be registered to view it though)
I agree, but I don't think we can get him. JHo and Bonzi would not be enough, IMO. But if we do get him, START HIM! Him with Yao would be the most dominating rebounding and blocking tandem in the league. (No offense to Hayes) but Hayes off bench would give spark and would keep JHo on bench . + Thomas is much bigger than Hayes so can guard the likes of Duncan.
Yea but its still nice to see that we are finally starting to be taken seriously especially by our divison rivals.
In 20 years time, i'll tell my grandchildren or children that i had the great fortune of watching yao ming in his prime. thats unless i get run-over by a bus tommorow.
I am surprised that no more people's there, it's very quite. Is Dallas the hot team? Look at our place,......., I am still wondering the most fans here are Chinese.. , is that true?
