I haven't been able to watch all the games, but after last nights travesty, I was wondering does this team have a player with the "Killer Instinct"? We have players that have it at times, but how about guys that think "This is NOK(for instance) no way we should lose to these guys and I'm not going to let it happen!" I know every team in this league is competitive, but a mental edge on this team would be nice. I have a feeling JVG would agree. So I ask on my first thread does this team have a player with a "KILLER INSTINCT" or someone who can develop it?
That's the main problem I see with the Rockets, and it is leading to their inconsistency. This team makes too many excuses. Just win baby.
You guys may laugh at me, but I think Yao is starting to develop that killer instinct. I mean you can only take so much of a pounding before you start fighting back. I can see it in his demeanor. He's fed up with the soft label and he's starting to push guys around. He has to be careful though because he still hasn't earned the respect of the offcials. It's really sad.
Spanoulis is definitely a player with this kind of mentality. I have been observing european basketball for quite a lot of years and I can tell you that this guy does not want to lose a single game! Unfortunately, he has not gained JvG's confidece yet and I don't know if this will happen this saison. I mean,hey, mavs were down with 30 and he just played 4 minutes. This is ridiculous!
Agree. You's aggressiveness currently is more hindered by these whistle-blower. Whenever Yao is trying to use some muscles and play tough, these damn officials just blow him to the bench. It's sad that smaller guys can use all their muscles on Yao while Yao cant do the same thing. I bet we are still going to see a 'soft' Yao this season if these officials still blowing their whistle like this way.
Yao needs to be more aggressive in the low post to earn the respect from the refs, of course he will be whistled, but if he stays soft, he will never get the respect.
It's really funny to see how many calls go against poor Yao. It'd be nice to see him protest and actually use his size to earn his fouls rather than have them conveniently tacked on to him. You could argue that the reason we lost yesterday was because Yao got into early foul trouble. Interestingly enough, he got into early foul trouble against Utah. He did not get into early foul trouble with Dallas. Yao will awaken though, and he will understand this league is his to take. I'd love to see him demand the ball, to show fire. To bulldoze people even if he gets charged with an offensive foul. Tracy looks like a ghost out there.
Good point about killer instinct. That was an awesome video game w/ the 120 hit ultra combos. Seriously, I think Tmac should be, Yao could be, but right now no one has it. Two years ago I think it was generally agreed that Sura had the most killer instinct, but it's a shame we couldn't say that about our superstars. I think w/ their personalities Tmac and Yao are more similar to Tim Duncan. Now Duncan is one of the top guys in the game, but do you guys consider him to have a more 'silent' killer instinct?
KillBill need I say more. Pound for pound one of the most intense players in the league if he ever got to play. I am trying not to be too judgemental on JVG because seem to genuinely taken a new coaching demeanor... but 1 area I have always felt he has lacked is vision. He can't see that Vspan passion drives to play his best in the toughest of situations. He plays better in big games, he plays better when the game is on the line he is truly clutch and has been all his career at every level! When everyone else is nervous he plays his best. He rises to the occassion and he detest losing. I believe it is making him sick to not play when the Rockets are losing. But JVG can't see the kids heart and passion and so he defers to veterans. It's his weakness as a coach. Give a team of proven veterans and he is okay. But don't give him rookies he detest rookies.
