do the Rockets, currently the 8th seed, have what it takes to upset the 1st seed Lakers?

Should Van Gundy be fired if they can't make it out of the first round?

since we are evaluating everything, for ex. the Battier trade, after every single game and all

are you kidding me?? we would sweep the Lakers.. just think about it, imagine Battier on Kobe, for 8 minutes, take out Battier, guess who comes in ?? SNYDER.. SNyder on Kobe for 12 minutes.. give some rest, Bonzi comes in .. then in the end, T-mac can get him for like 5 minutes.. end of game, Rockets win 107-64.. Kobe has a triple double- 12 points, 19 turnovers, 11 shots that got blocked !! ..

    :D

no seriously, if we played like yesterday, we can beat anybody in the league..

Too funny. I like the way you put it.

It's just like when Miami got destroyed by Chicago in the first game of the season. Just because a team loses one game, it doesn't mean you should fire coach Van Gundy(Riley) and demand a trade ofyour point guard Alston(Williams/Payton).

    Dallas is 0-2.

    Phoenix is 1-3.

Miami and Chicago are now 1-2.

I have no doubt that all these teams and Houston will make the playoffs. The first month of the season can be very strange. The Rockets are now 1-1 and can still go 1-2 like Miami or Chicago, or even 1-3 like Phoenix. Alston and Van Gundy are here to stay.

The Rockets will be getting EASILY sweeped.. the Lakers are #1 and there's a reason why they are #1

JVG will get fired, Sura retires, TMac traded, women dying, children crying, Bin Laden found. A 3rd world war will break out.

The Future will meat the Veteran (LBJ v Kobe).

does this question even need to be asked? if you ask me, i'm not against the Rockets canning Gundy no matter what he does this year. he just seems to make it harder for this team.

I will take the 8th seed to play the Lakers. And then we'd play the 4/5 seed, who'd be Minnesota or Portland. Championship baby. Playoffs, start now!

JVG should be fired at the end of this season as he is unable to coach an entertaining team- the fans are just fed up with his poor decission making.
If the Rox won the NBA champs then keep him on a yearly contract.
No sane coach would be starting Chuck Hayes. Not playing our three point shooter [Novak] is beyond reason.

**** if the playoffs started today, T-Mac would actually start playing, drop 40 a night and we win championship. Good game.

What's the point of making thread like this?

What kind of answer do you expect?

Or you already have the answer?

Depends on how the team sees the Lakers. If they think they're good team, then we can beat them. If on the other hand they see them as a mediocre team, then we lose.

If we can evaluate the Battier/Gay trade and determine the long term future of Rafer Alston after 1 game, why can't we make playoff projections after 2 games?

    :D

By the way, after game 3, I guess we should start thinking about whether Yao and Greg Oden will fit together on the same frontline.
